Best melee build if you don't like grinding

So I've been playing my new paladin... and I think I've pretty much decided to splash 2 levels of rogue when the cap goes up... mainly for evasion and UMD.

So I'll end up with a 18/2 Paladin/Rogue with full UMD skills

The neat thing about this build....


I don't need to grind for Mineral II weapons, because the Holy Sword spell takes care of that for that for me...
I don't need to grind for raise dead rings or raise dead shroud items because I can use raise dead scrolls...
I don't need a planar gird because I can scroll GH
I don't need a true seeing item because I can scroll True Seeing
I don't need a fear immunity or disease immunity item...
I don't really need an upgraded silver flame amulet because I can use Restoration scrolls (but that's not much of a grind so I'll get it)
I don't really need Cloak of Ice or Firestorm Greaves because I have evasion...


Pretty much all I need is a bloodstone, probably a Tier II Air-Air Shroud item (200 SP, haste clickable, and +3 CHA skills for UMD)

That sure is a lot less grinding than my other two melees :)

Shame you didn't start with rogue then.

Also if you have neg levels might be tough scrolling that restoration scroll (depending). Silver flame amulet is boo-boo-proof.

lvl 18 paladins don't need umd check to use restoration scrolls =)

if u go PRE way of the undead w/e u will be immune to negative energy spell at level 12 so u wont need restoration at all :D

The minimum level to use a Restoration scroll as a paladin.

Personally I don't think the grind for a Silver Flame necklace is that bad. Run a quest series (yes I agree it is monotonous and boring) 3 times and you are guarenteed a fully upgraded 8 charge necklace!

There are a LOT worse grinds than that - sometimes it takes me more that three tried to get my Goggles from Tangleroot or my Cartouche from Deleras...

To me having high UMD and a stack of Res, Heal, MCM, and Resto scrolls means I can help myself and or my party members - but that is just me.

Seriously though, negative levels don't affect non-UMD scrolling.
