I have a lvl 15 Ranger/1 Rogue ranged ranger high dex build. I"m wondering if I can get some suggestions or thoughts on what I should have as a favored enemy.

Currently, for favored enemy I have:
Evil Outsider
Giants
Monsturous Humanoid
Reptile

I am thinking I could probably switch out Reptile, but I'm not sure.

Any thoughts?

Can't say for future mods but I would swap out reptile for undead. There's a ton in game at all levels currently so I would expect to see more eventually. But hard to say for sure.

If I were you, I would drop Monstrous Humanoids and Reptiles and pick up Undead and Aberrations or Constructs.

My level 16 Ranger has Undead, Evil Outsiders, Aberrations and Constructs. More than likely, I'll take Giants at 20. Although Elementals would be good too (guess I can wait to level 25 for that...)

Some good choices for end game at the moment are:

Evil Outsider
Elemental
Construct

Other than Evil Outsiders my choices revolved around those I'd be doing the least amount of damage to (due to crit immunity and DR). This means that I have Undead as well as the 3 listed above.

You can choose whatever you want, but since we're fighting a lot of demons, keep Evil Outsider and tweak the other ones to the stuff that you seem to fight a lot of on your ranger :)

Well, what do you fight the most?? Reptile helps in Enter the Kobold and Coal Chamber and trogs in the Shroud. Where does Monstrous Humanoid help?

Personally, I like Elementals as a favored enemy, since they have non-bypassable DR and are pretty tough...

Evil Outsider - its a must.
Undead - kinda a no brainer
Elemental - Helps in Kol and Shroud
Giants - The game is loaded with giants and with DPS becoming more of a concern in MOD 9 you'll probably need it.

A lot of people have said construct, I believe it to be a complete waste. How hard is a portal to kill?????? And does it hit back?? I try to combine both the defensive and offense aspects of FE before choosing.

I have chose enemies I like, and like to kill. Traditional enemies that the game is full of.

Goblinoids

Early quests involce such beasts, from Shan-ta-kor, to Tangleroot.

Orcs was the next logical choice if I were to be the enemy of two-legged beast-men.
Orcs are NOT in a lot of quests however.

Monstorous Humanoids was my next choice. There is a never-ending supply of Trolls, Ogres, and Minotaurs (Hope those are all considered monsterous.)

Last Giants. Lots of these guys.

Just wish I could have Gnolls & Trogs too!

Aberrations are nice to have as a FE. You can use enhancements to improve your saves vs beholders and mind flayers

Giants - because there is such a thing as too much fleshling.
Undead - because dead fleshlings need to stay dead.
Evil Outsiders - because Eberron has too many fleshlings as it is.

These work pretty well for most of the endgame content:

Evil Outsider
Undead
Giant
Elemental

I think Sahuagin are Monstrous Humanoids, too. Why Gnolls aren't is a mystery.

The weapons from the Wavecrest quest on korthos have Lesser Monstrous Humanoid Bane, and affect Sahuagin. That sounds correct.

Oh good, so got all my enemies covered! I like killing the fleshy bipeds! They are best for hunting; humanoids we used to call them, back in AD&D.

Isn't Sorjek an undead Lich? I'm not sure if he actually counts as a giant still.

I took constructs because I can't crit them. It was an interesting bonus when the portals showed up as constructs and I was getting extra dmg on them. The +10 or so dmg per swing when dual wielding on a portal is a lot of extra dmg. The 11 ranger raid I went on had portals breaking about the time the last person reached it. We all moved quickly and the amount of dmg 10-11 rangers with FE construct put out is scary high.

In any case I have a tendency to take FE for creatures that are common and take a lot to kill. When my ranger hits 20th my last FE will probably be elementals since, as was said, their DR is often not bypassable so extra pure DPS is always welcome.

A lich has all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here.
Size and Type

The creature’s type changes to undead. Do not recalculate base attack bonus, saves, or skill points. Size is unchanged.

Sorjek = Undead.

This is what I chose, too... will take Undead once Mod 9 lands.
