If you can't tell I realy like Paladins. I keep coming up with new and interesting ways to make one. This is yet another attempt. What I was looking for here was a character that was mostly Paladin could dual wield, had evasion, a decent if not stellar AC and would be effective in a number of forms of combat and capable of getting around undetected if need be. The Scout part refers to one of a rangers numerous duties of actng as a scout.

Suggestions always welcome

Level 6: Spring Attack

Level 8: Ranger FE bonus: evil outsider

Level 9: IC Slashing

Level 12: Oversized TWF

Level 15: IC Ranged

Notable Enhancements:
Paladin and Racial Toungess II
Tempest I
Divne Sacrafice I
Exhalted Smite I
Divne Might I
Ranger Dex II
Pali Chr II
Monk Wis I
BoG II

There are a few others but that covers the most impotant ones.

Combined with Knight of the Chalice or Hunter of the Undead the combined power of the Ranger FE focus and Paladin specialization should synergize quite well.

Ultimate Plan is 12/6/2 Paladin/Ranger/Monk

Level up guide:
Level 1 Ranger
level 2 Monk
Level 3 Ranger
Level 4 Monk
Level 5 Paladin
Level 6-9 Ranger take tempest at 9
Level 10-16 Paladin

Between Divine Sacrafice/Exhalted Smite/Many Shot this is probably not newbie friendly but will bring Paladin strengths with a few good side benefits.

You've know idea how much I will wait for epic levels for just such a combination :D

Heh, this build alone means Turbine will never be able to give us epic levels.

Except for Hide /Move Silently, this character would be much better off as a 14 Pally/2 Monk, of which I currently have 2.

One is Halfling Dex based TWF, and the other is a WF Str based THF. Either approach works well (though the WF is still on his way up, but at level 10 is flourishing).

Either way would be better I think than the build you propose, but would not be able to sneak.......if that is more important than effectiveness, then go ahead with your proposed build.

Ok... I'll bite educate me. With this build I get tempest, two FE, and TWF for free. Diehard for free, Bow str for free, many shot for free. I am not being snippy.... I truly don't see how your statement is true so please provide example how. The name implies the builds designs. Other then being a melee combatant I can range with a bow when need be and the ability to sneak passed things has its ususes as well.

Well, both builds (14/2) and (8/6/2) get 10% attack speed, and evasion. Paladin spells mostly suck, so he doesn't miss much there...

14/2 gets
Holy Sword spell
Divine Might II
Divine Sacrifice II
Exalted Smite II

8/6/2 gets
Ram's Might
TWF and ITWF for free
Manyshot
Bow Strength
Rapid Shot
2 FE (+6 to damage)

So I wouldn't say that 14/2 beats the other one completely.. 8/6/2 is pretty good too...

Edited: Forgot Favored Enemies! That's definitely makes the 8/6/2 pretty nice..

plus the mutt is about (tm) to get a nice boost when the cap goes up too

The other upside as I mentioned when cap goes up he will be able to get first two tiers of any of the three paladin lines + tempest. Either KoTC or Hunter of the Undead will synergize beautfiully with the two FE's I chose: undead and evil outsider.

Currently at work and lunch is over so i can't run the numbers on combining KoTC and FE but I suspect they are very very good.

Edit: Quick Look FE Evil Outsider with KOTC: damage 6 + 1-2d6, to hit +2-3 (KoTC I-KoTC II)

Yeah I think the Ranger is well worth it.
