I have a silly idea but it may help really stress test the server changes and quiet some of the complaints about too much info getting to the "live" population.

Instead of cutesy poo events and perfromances to get as many people on as possible, just narrow the window of server availability.

Lamina is only open for existing Charachters from 7:00 pm till 10:00 pm Wed evenings. New player area is open from 7:00 Pm till 10:00 pm thur evenings. then the tech staff can have all day thu and fri to evaluate, and on the weekends (heaviest play time) all other resources can be devoted to keeping the game stable and as LAG free as possible.

Every Wed when Lamina goes "live" there is a new something added to the game. therefore testing each new addition and its compatability with the current coding. Roll back is easier as only a few changes are made each week.

They can't even bring down the servers for regularly scheduled maintenance in the wee hours of the morning without people complaining about "Stealing the play time"..

Closing the server all but a couple hours a week would put people into a frenzy..

Seriously though, i think they get their spikes when they first release something new on lamania. Everyone logs in to check it out and then it slows down. I would imagine they need to let things run for a while to make sure there are no slow memory leaks too..
