Hello,
i just started playing, currently playing human paladin, just made level 3 and arrived at market place, any advice for quests sequence, and tips, alsowhen i was doing one of the quests in harbor, i was fighting theses oozes or blobs, and my ember + 1 sword broke, for some reason the wear and tear on that long sword was not good, i always repair when i finish a mission, but this time it broke, i did eventually get it fixed but the durabilityof it sucks, can any one suggestion a better more durable weaapon for a paladin, that will hold up more., thks.also should i start splashing a secon profession ,at this time, stay pure or waite until i get a little harder, im currently level 3, and mostly soling at this time, due to hard to finds groups,

1. Get all the quests at the 'Leaky Dingy' All are easy to solo. Then try to get in a group for 'Waterworks' (you will need this to get into the market for free)
2. Mucks, Oozes and such will damage every weapon except 'Everbright' and 'Muck Bane'. Also, make sure to use a blunt weapon on them so they will not split on you.
Good Luck

op, the oozes damages most weapons. Invest in cheap clubs to smite them with or if you remember the quest den of the kobold brothers ( gotten in the leaky dingaling), run that a few times and watch for the bonus chest that sometimes spawns with a specific "named" monster called "MUCK". Kill that ooze and check the chest for the possiblity of a "muckbane" its a club that tears up mucks. Also, it should be known that most slashing weapons will split and multiply the oozes so use a blunt weapon where possible even if its not a muckbane.
opinions,
stay pure with yer first rig
go back and re run the harbor quests to become more familiar with the game/quests
you should prolly have a group in most market quests
if your on thelanis, send pm and i can lend a hand

A longsword is a good weapon for a paladin using a shield (the best option that doesn't require a feat unless you're a dwarf). Durability is rarely an issue no matter what weapon you use, so just try to find a new longsword and you'll be good for quite a while.
Your should probably take the time to get a character planner or find a template online that you like before leveling any farther. Pure paladins are decent now and will be really good after the next mod is released (anywhere from this Wednesday to 2012, nobody has a clue when the actual release is), so that's always an option. There's also a lot of builds that have three levels of paladin in them for the saving throw increases, so that is also still a good option. Whatever you do, though, make sure you have a plan before you randomly add levels.
Go to the armoury in the harbour and buy 2-3 greatclubs. Wooden weapons take less damage from oozes and are cheap.
I would suggest you put up an LFM: New player looking to do harbour quests you should some people together that will tell you these hints and tips and also help you complete the quests. Anthing in the end of the harbou with the leaky dingy you should be able to do on solo setting (except kobald assault)

That quest is from the Leaky Dinghy. It is also known as Den of the Kobold Brothers.
For me, I can get a Muck Bane every six runs on average.
If you are on Ghallanda i would be willing to show you where it is. I have a couple Muck Banes in storage so I could show you where and give you one if we do not find one.

As a paladin you tend to be sort of balanced on characteristics, STR, DEX, CON, CHA, WIS, with a low INT is my guess. Just my guess though. You just might have an INT of 18 for all I know.
With a LOW INT you cannot go into wizardry or rogue.
Your charisma is probably not high enough to switch to a Bard or Sorceror and fully utilize the benefits of those characters with a HIGH Charisma.
I do not think you can switch to barbarian at all due to your alignment.
Fighter, Monk, Ranger, and Cleric are your other choices.
Conceivable to switch to a Fighter to gain more HP.
if you go to 4th level paladin you get to cast the 1st level Cure Light Wounds spell. But you will not have a ton of spell points.
Personally, I would just stay with Paladin for now. You can do some minor heals, you will get some other healing spells that are OK, you can lay on hands, you can fight your way out of many battles.

Conceivable to switch to a Fighter to gain more HP.
Fighter and paladin both get +10 HP/level.
The main reason to take fighter is on an intimi-tank build, for tower shield proficiency and intiimidate as class skill.
Other popular splashes are rogue (umd/evasion) or monk (evasion/AC).
All these options can't be advised unless your build is really appropriate for them, though (as a general rule of thumb: don't multiclass unless you really know where you're going, as it's much easier to screw up than get it right).

Hi Snieves,
I recommend to stay pure Paladin. Perhaps when you're more familiar with DDO you might want to splash another class. However in order to take full advantage of a splash you need to build your character just right. So for now I would recommond to just stay pure.
As for breaking your longsword, as it was mentioned when you hit an ooze it will damage your weapon. I recommend finding the armory and purchasing a small number of warhammers (I usually like 4). Then run Dirk's quest a bunch of times (when you go into the Leaky Dingy, Dirk is on the right hand side). Use the first warhammer until it breaks, then switch to the next. You'll likely go through 2 per runs through this quest. In this quest there is a rare ooze that sometimes is there called Muck. If he is there and you kill him you can open his chest, and if you're lucky you can find a muckbane which is a club that is not damaged by an ooze. After 2 runs through Dirks, go repair your warhammers and go run it again. It is a bit of grind, and when you get a muckbane is just random, but once you have a muckbane you can use that weapon on any ooze in the game and save your nice weapons. On one character I've gotten a muckbane on the 1st time through. On another I've not found one in over 20 runs. Then I have a lot of characters where it was somewhere in between. One suggestion is to run this quest with a group with the intent of everyone getting a muckbane. That way you will have multiple chances of getting one every time Muck shows up.
Good luck:)

Do not have a weapon or a shield out. Just attack with your bare hands.
Will it work? Yes.
Can it be a little slow? Yes.
if you have a high strength it does not take that long.
On a Perma death character that is how I would confront an ooze the first time.
To do this, just put one of the empty GREEN weapon combination slots on your short cut bar. See an ooze, click that weapon combination.

Just be sure to carry a box of tissues with you cuz your hands are gonna get all oozy. I always keep a box by my desk...
