All,
Crack open your first edition books of Dungeons and Dragons and follow along with me to the days of Artifact’s and Relic’s…
If you were so very lucky to have a DM bestow an adventure where you actually had the chance of questing for one of these wonderful items and then if he/she actually let you keep it was another thing.
What a fantastic feeling it was to possess and use such an item. In this digital version the essence of a DM’s influence is strictly limited to being a non emotional referee so we are dependent upon the loot system to bestow upon us these wonderful and unique items.
There is an ever so slight hint to these items currently in the game clandestinely in the form of “Special Event Gifts” such as the +1 Vorpal Sickle of Haggling (+3). It is by no means in comparison to an actual Artifact or Relic but there are only one of these in existence per world, and I like that idea.
I know what you are now thinking… “It’s just another variable for someone to be even more powerful than the rest of us.” But that's is not my goal.
What I would like to see happen (here is your free idea to enhance the game) is a large list of “One Drop” items in the game similar to the current rare items like “Flametongue”. But these would vary in power and uniqueness from minor all the way to supreme. Perhaps giving each chest an extremely minor chance of producing one of these special items or some other mechanism that triggers the drop like a real life time period. This could be used to replace the +1 Loot Weekends.
Think about introducing this into the game.
Signed,
Someone who despises the lag and lack of content, but likes the game regardless.
