Ok, I have a pure 28-point Elven Ranger that is capped at the moment. He has Deepwoods Sniper I. Since Deepwoods Sniper is not being expanded in Mod 9, I'm curious to know what everyone thinks the requirements will be for II and III?
Will it be more enhancements (Hide III/IV, Move Silently III/IV and Spot III/IV for Deepwoods Sniper II and III)?
Will there be a feat attached as a prereq (most likely Improved Critical: Ranged)?
Should I just drop it all together, pick up Mental Toughness at level 18 and go Arcane Archer? I was planning on taking Toughness...

you are planning something that they won't deliver for 6+ months...
do whatever you feel like now, by the time when they finally give us these enhancements you probably won't play a ranger...

Deepwood sniper II is selectable on Llama. Yes, it requires another rank of Ranger hide and move silent. It does not, however, seem to have any added benefit since you only get your existent sniper shot. I'm hoping that this is good news and may be updated in an update, rather than a new mod.
I know, I'm an eternal optimist.

I would really like to see Deepwoods Sniper expanded.
And I know I'm not the only one who likes ranged combat, and isn't happy that it's borked in this game. Is it that there's a perception that if ranged combat were improved, (or even fixed so that it functions properly) that it would be overpowering? I'm seriously wondering why ranged combat seems to be taken less seriously.

I am beginning to think that AA is the way to go. With an additional + X% increase from the capstone the additional damage of imbuing arrows with force damage may out pace that of deep woods given it can only be fired every 10 seconds. The hide and move silently enhancements are pretty much a waste where the feats for AA are at least partially useful.

It was a disappointment the higher levels of deepwood were not in mod 9 as ranging, despite recent love, can still use the attention.
I suspect the requirements will continue along the current path (hide, move silently, Spot). The feat requirements (2) are a bit steep for a PrC, so I'd be surprised to see additional feats needed (perhaps SotR).
I'm really hoping to see lower levels of ranged attack speed bonus here to give some ranger speed bonus to multi-class rangers who won't get the level 20 ranged speed increase.
Would love to see the Sniper Shot clickie made into passive bonuses.

I had deepwood in the past on my ranger but reconfigured. I found that trying to keep up with the 10 second cool down, remember to fire it, having to map it to my mouse extra button and so forth to be annoying. I went AA for the simple fact getting my inventory space back. I use 1 quiver to stock silver, cold iron and byshek (sp) arrows in case I need them. Otherwise, +4 AA arrows. Currently on Lamannia it is up to +5, can be imbued with force arrows and I can now cast flame arrow wands with umd no issues. Maybe Deepwood gets better later, but for now I recommend AA.

I'd like to see a II enhancement that maybe increases the crit shot by one in all pluses. So the crit shot would add another die to the damage roll, add two to the threat range, etc.
Then III enhancement would be similar except all bonues are +4.
Since rangers in DDO are suppose to be "ranged" combatants instead of protectors of the royal hunting grounds, then they should not only deal massive damage but also include the "one-shot - one-kill" mentality. Maybe give the deepwood sniper a OSOK clicky with a high cooldown rate? Maybe even make the cooldown time to go faster, if not in motion - maybe give a special camo suit, or useable only in camo mode?

No. Simply not true.
Neither in D&D nor in DDO are Rangers supposed to be Archers. They can become good at archery, but thats it.

I agree with you about D&D. However, not so with DDO. When I first installed DDO, the intro to the Rangers was that they were to be excellent at "Ranged" combat. Where are the animal friends (not just befriending animals)? the choice of melee vs. bow (instead of both)? the use of druid spells? Their tracking ability?
I have this discussion with many. Rangers are not really fighters. They are forest watchers and protectors. But that is difficult to play in a basically combat driven game. When going to threnal, why must one get exp for defeating the giants? Why not also award xp for just sneaking past and staying alive to arrive where help is needed?
So, has the intro to DDO and the class definition of the "Ranger" changed? You stating that it is "simply not true" is a hard pill to swallow. The first line of their description is "A good combatant but better suited as a (bold print here) ranged attacker (end bold print) in a party." And their icon is a bow and arrow?
There were Rangers that were spies that got the Indians to fight against the French when the British were first attempting to colonize the Americas. Then the Rangers worked against the colonist during the American Revolutionary war. Not sure how these were the rangers that patroled the King's forests, though, but my guess is that they were good at running, and with a long rifle.

Anyways, any comments from the devolpers on including my suggestions?
Reasons why it cannot be done? Reasons why it isn't allowed for game play?

No, and there likely be an official announcement when there is. It's all hearsay and conjecture at the moment.
