Our guild is new: The Core HC Permadeath Guild. And we are new in more ways than one. I think we are the first hard-core permadeath guild on Khyber. And we are the first in DDO to go without shrines. Take a peak: thecorehc.home.comcast.net
Here is a brief summation: We wanted DDO to be as close as possible to the core ruleset of D&D 3.5. And we wanted a challenging game experience, not just for the end-game content, but throughout the entire campaign of our characters. So we settled on some principles that hopefully reflect the core rules of D&D.
1. No shrines.
2. No transfer of anything to anyone. (Including your alts).
3. No dying.
4. No solo'ing. (Keeps us honest).
5. No House Phiarlan or House Jorasco buffs.
Basically, to complete a quest it must be done with the resources you have when you entered it. Period.
To get the full ruleset, see thecorehc.home.comcast.net
The guild leader is Movolario. Nearly all players are officers. We are a small, dedicated guild with about 20 active players now. Several of us are on every day, from late afternoon to in the wee hours.
Our highest level character is 7. Getting to level 10 is pipe dream : )

No soloing doesn't keep ya honest. Honesty is an inherent quality. No soloing limits your growth.

Ok, I'll feed the troll just this once. This will be my first and last reply in this thread.
It would be difficult to believe that you did not understand the intent of his phrasing. Replace "honest" with "accountable" if you must.
Oversight and accountability do increase adherence to rules/systems/processes/procedures. If you don't like the accountability model of not soloing, don't join the guild.

LOL,
All the more reason if it looks like fun.
No temptation to "twink"

What do you care about our growth?

I'm... partly confused by Rule 1. Do you mean both types of shrines or just the res shrines?

Both rest and rez shrines. Once the quest is complete, you can shrine and go into the next part if you're running a quest chain, like Splinterskull. Otherwise, when you complete the quest, recall out and rest in a tavern. Get your reward, manage your loot and inventory, ruminate about the next quest and it's dangers.
Since I started to play in this guild about 8 weeks ago, this way seems the "most realistic" to me now. Of course, realism here just means the closest approximation to what D&D 3.5 core rules are. In PnP, you can't take an extended rest (ie. rest shrines) to recover hit points and use of spells while you are in hostile territory. To me, that means resting in a tavern.
Too often spellcasters just dump their mana in spam casting because they know where the next shrine is. Or melee types use two-handed weapons or two-weapon fighting to put out a ton of damage and TAKE a ton of damage because a shrine is in the next room. Well, our ruleset encourages the most careful use of resources to accomplish the goal.
Our highest level character so far is a level 8 halfling ranger. The next highest is level 7 and include a spellsinger bard, a pure elf wizard (mine), and a warforged ranger/wizard/rogue, among others.
All classes and all builds are welcome. In regular play, people might criticize your character design choices (or be constantly looking at the kill counts to stroke their own egos) because it's not "by the numbers." But in our guild, survival and completing quests is the name of the game. It's been fun so far...

My interest is piqued. I may drop you a line. I have a friend (or maybe two) that will also be interested most likely. I have no characters on the Khyber server (okay, I lied, I have a level 2 permadeath character on Khyber....) so no twinking possible.

Glad to see you're interested. Last evening we had 11 guildies online, but usually we are scraping by in some hard, hard battles with only 2-3 in a party. I figure if we get some good players in the guild, before long we'll start facing some new dangers in the level 8-10 stuff. As of now, the Haunted Library has claimed a level 8 halfling ranger; some spikes in Three barrel cove impaled one of our level 6 sorcerers; and a Virtuoso bard (oh for Music of the Dead once again!) on the verge of level 8 was webbed, soundbursted, and blasted into smithereens by some rude and shady drow casters in Searing Heights.
But a star has risen in the form of one Mojejido (Mo jay jee do), one level 8 elven wizard who claims the Feywild as his home. Let's hope he doesn't go home too soon...

Look for Mo
This actually sounds like a fun diversion from the rest of the game.
I'm already turning over a build in my head that I think would be perfect....
I may send ya a tell in game if I'm able to free up a character slot.

I'm concerned with rule #3 - no dying
How do you propose to stop that from happening?

Play your character well, and by being an integrated part of the team.
I like the idea of a completely non-twinked character that can't solo up through the first 12 levels. Really makes you lean on your fellow guildies to complete a quest successfully.
