View Full Version : Crafting Ingredients as Quest Rewards

I have brought up this idea with several raid groups and every time I mention it, a majority of the raid states that it is an awesome idea and I should post it on the DDO forum.....so I am....
First off is green briar twigs.....some of us (especially me) can run Rainbow and Coalescence six times each and get not one twig. So adding the basic crafting ingredients (especially green twigs) to the vale walk up reward tables will alleviate this issue. It is a pretty significant issue as you can see from the auction house.....no other vale ingredient is in such high demand as 500,000 gold for 2 twigs most days, and if you like dual wielding rapiers you will need 4....ouch.
Another idea is to add them to the possible loot from Vale chests while looting the Vale rare mob chests. I think we all have enough Locust Husks and Lilly Petals at this point.
The really big idea that everyone seems to really want is to add large ingredients to the Shroud Raid Reward Table. I have run Shroud with both my end capped barbarians at lest 20 times, maybe 30 times and I have just gotten my first Large Devil Scale, yet I have 3 to 4 of all the other large ingredients. To make my Mineral II Great Axe for ONE of my two barbarians I think I need 5 scales.....so I may need to run shroud another 100 or more times to make one Mineral II two handed weapon...?!?!? Eh I'm not sure that sounds very fun compared to getting raid loot in any other MMO I have played.....
Adding the large ingredients to the end reward table will add a lot of enjoyment to the Shroud raid and alleviate the stress of having to run Shroud hundreds of times to craft raid loot for our toons.
Especially since I would barely consider this to be actual crafting anyways. Most MMOs including LOTRO have real crafting where you gather items from the landscape and make magical gear for your characters using actual crafting skills.

PS....Can we add a **** search bar to the Auction House for gods sake? Seriously how hard is a search function for the AH to code? Don't make me mention LOTRO has one....can a Turbine employee that codes for LOTRO help you guys or something? I mean I sure do love looking at every single page of every bladed waepon level 8-16 for the cheapest Vorpal sword every time I want to gear a new toon. Being able to type in "vorpal" and hit search is a **** awful idea.

I'll second that, along with adding some user-specified AH notifications, so if I'm looking for something "vorpal" I can set it up so it will send me an in-game mail telling me that one is on the block.

Great idea. I hope they implement it at some point, doubt it, but really is a great idea.

Too late for mod 9 probably. Maybe we'll get it in mod 10, a year from now.

Asking it to mail you is a bit much imo, but I would like to be able to search for it when I am looking at the AH. Digging through 10-15 pages (or for some categories, well over 20 pages) to find something that I need is not fun.

adding more chances for you to get hosed on large drops wont help. some characters are cursed and random loot is a myth. i was in the same situation with the first toon i made, so i starded rolling more homies till i found a golden goose. try it if you have the time.
i feel your pain but theres nothing you can do about it aside from playing a different toon

I understand what you are saying about cursed toons and Turbine, I read about the infamous Wi Flag, and yes some of my toons may or may not be cursed to never pull anything good ever from anywhere.
That is the point of this idea, it will fix a couple of those "getting hosed" situations.
I get the impression from reading your response that my idea may have been too long for you to read thoroughly, and maybe you just skimmed to the part about putting twigs in the vale chests and then not reading the rest of the ideas.

Exaggerate much?
If you ran two characters through the shroud 20 times, you'd have at least 40 larges from part 5 chests alone. Part 4 chests offer a 50/50 chance at another, so you might have somewhere around 60 larges.
That's pretty far off 1 scale and 3-4 of the rest. What you're describing sounds as if you've not actually been completing the quest, but farming it through part 4.

Sometimes I get no large ingredients in part four or if I do I get a Energy cell or a horn or something like that, not a large devil scale though. I got my first devil scale out of part four yesterday.
Maybe my barbs are Wi Flagged, but no I am not exaggerating on my poor luck with scales. I am now up to two total both toons.....

if it means something I support this.
Would be nice not having to farm 5 scales over 7 years through the snow up hill both ways....
also (hopefully) lower the ridiculoud auction house prices.
