want to make a bowbarian for fun...maybe some pvp. Anyways, I'm thinking of the following:
WF
lvl 1-2 Ranger lvl 3-20 barb
stats will be: str 17 dex 16 con 16 int11 wis and cha 6
skills into jump, balance, intimi, whatever

now,
With wisdom being at 6 I won't be able to cast first level ranger spells which means no rams might. The spell description from what I've read is +2 to strength and damage. So does that equate to +3 damage? Or does it just increase the str by +2 giving me an extra +1 damage?

All level up ability points will be put into dex to get it up so I can hit with a bow. Crit II build before mod 9 comes.

Feats will be whatever as they can be traded with Fred.

Went with WF to make use of the docent of quickening. Does this 25% ranged speed increase stack with haste spell? Also, does it stack with the new capstone for ranger 20?(just curious for a pure ranger build)
Any suggestion or comments would be appreciated.

Just get a +2 tome and a +6 wis item and you will be fine as far as spells at end game, infact with just a +5 item you can cast 1st level spells. lets see if you can get a +2 tome and a +3 item you could be able to cast 1st level spells by lvl 4 or 5 like any other ranger I wouldnt put all your level ups to dex I would put them into str for damage.

The first issue I see here is that with only 2 levels of ranger, you will not get any spells. Rangers do not get 1st level spells until level 4.

To answer your first question, Rams might gives +2 STR and +2 damage, for a total for +3 damage.

About the docent of quickening, it does not have a 25% ranged speed boost, it has 25% striding, 10% melee alacrity (attack speed), and 10% ranged alacrity.

I know for sure the striding does not stack with haste, and I am pretty sure that the alacrity speed boosts do not stack with haste either.

ohh my bad I didnt even read how many levels of either he was taking just assumed at least 6 lvls of range min, for tempest. and since he talked about ranger capstone thought I would mention max wis he would ever need

Strength? I know this is normally done but wouldn't my points be best on dex so I can hit stuff with my bow. I will have more then enough strength with rages.

In light of the docent not stacking I decided to go with elf with following stats:
str 16 dex 18 con 14 int 10 and 8 for last 2.
I figure that this will be fitting for a bow user. I will put all points into strength as Uska suggested.
Any problems with this?

I can't decide on which race...wf or elf.

The way I see it:
WF stats will be: 1716161166 while Elf stats will be:161814108
advantages of wf:
Docent of Defiance
Higher con
Tireless rage
wf immunities
heal by both arcane and devine

Disadvantages of wf:
stats arn't as bow friendly as the elf would end up with +2 dex over wf.
lose +2 damage and attack bonus from elf
lose +2 dex bonus from elf
so for a bow user thats +4 to hit less

Now, is that -4 to hit going to be a problem end game? I would only be using the bow when manyshot is up.

Thanks.

I have this exact same build. I didnt use WF, I used elf though. Trust me, you will want the dex to hit with any regularity if you plan on using your bow. Otherwise you will only hit trash mobs and 1-2 of your many shot arrows will more than likely end up missing raid bosses. The bonus to bow damage from elf is nice also.

You will want to put all your points into dex just as mentioned otherwise you wont be hitting anything with a decent to good ac. Your rages will give you plenty of str for damage.

My bowbarians stats fully raged are;

36 Str (38 with dbl madstone)
32 Dex
36 Con (again, 38 with dbl madstone)

He has 400 hps without rage and around 500 or so raged up.

All of these stats are with only +1 tomes, if I remember correctly.
