View Full Version : INCAPPED when ZERO CON - not STUNNED/AUTOCRIT!

I am wondering...

One of the things that confuses me, and I think many others about the WoP nerf is that a MOB with ZERO CON should be dead ... quite literally. Players die from ZERO stats, if I am not mistaken (at least until MOD9).

Why not INCAP a mob that has ZERO CON? Why not have them mimic our INCAP? Let them regen their CON at the same rate we do, unless they are a MOB with enhanced regen, like TROLLS. Let them have the ability to be restored. The same would apply to us. This STUN/AUTO CRIT gig seems unrealistic and makes little sense.

I know the STUN effect is probably an easier code then INCAP'ing them, but really, at least it makes more sense and is a bit more realistic, since they are as good as dead with ZERO CON.

Some folks will still be mad because their favorite toy now seems broke (I have four or five WoP, so I am not a wannabe here). It is still a pretty valid weapon based on what I see and the fact that it can now do some work on a RED NAMED is a nice perk. Nevertheless, INCAP seems to make more sense and is closer to death than the new DEV stun/autocrit option. What do you think?

Correct me if I am wrong on anything above. I am not as well versed in game mechanics as I should be at this point.

Dex was here.

If they really wanted to do something about WoPs weapons they should of just stopped them from dropping anymore and left all the others alone.

unfortunately with binding/attuning and the removal of perm damage on bound items, that would not be feasable.

Interesting idea Dex, but I'd be surprised if it ever happened. Reducing a mob to incap status means you'd only need to do a maximum of 10pts of damage to kill it. I'm not sure if the intent of the nerf, to immasculate WoP and force real damage, would be served.

Has anyone else considered that this nerf takes away accomplishment for those stealthy players who like to go through quests w/o any kills?

Now anyone can just WoP and go, leaving drooling idiots in their wake.

Aside from the *new* stun effect, reducing a mob to helpless status has not been and probably will not be equivalent to character helplessness.

Helpless mobs can still move. They can still attack with melee or ranged, but cannot cast spells. In the case of a beholder, the beholder cannot emit the various eyestalk beams, though the antimagic field still works.

Leaving mobs "helpless" is not going to be any better than just running by them, for the most part. The real danger of zerging is almost always related to blocking yourself in so that you can't get out, and thus take damage and die.

I think this change will make zerging a more popular quest tactic, which means that many people who prefer not to zerg every quest will find it harder to find something interesting to do in the game.

So now you can't stealth your way through a quest because others can WoP their way through a quest (even assuming it works the way you're anticipating)?

Nope, I never said that. You made the wrong assumption.

True enough. We'll wait and see what "stunned for a short period of time" means this mod...

Wow…good response.

Ok. <sigh> I’ll try to type slowly and use small words.

Accomplishments are posted for player recognition and acceptance of noteworthy feats.

The standard for proof of the accomplishment has become the screen shot of the completion dialog.

The completion dialog does not differentiate between mobs which have not been killed due to the capabilities of the player, or ones which were beaten senseless by stat damage and left to wander. The completion dialog does not show the whole story.

So, a completion with zero kills cannot be supported by a simple picture of incomplete data. We have to take their word on it…and just how well do we, as a community, do that?

BTW: yes, it has happened before and some have claimed accomplishments not due them. It just became easier.

See ya.

You two wanna get a room. ROFL.

I understand that my idea post fell flat, but ... LOL ... talk about hi-jacking the thread.

Dex shakes head and walks away.

Not too small. I don't want to have to go get me readin' specs.

Now listen, don't tell anyone else, but, DDO is a game, not real life, so what you do in it doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

Unless it's those magic beanstalk beans.

ugh, the whole "ACcomplishment" mentality drives me nuts....

Seriously, if you need to Lie/Deceive people to get accomplished whats the point? Do you win a Medal? Free Game Time? get a Raise? Get a Pretty girlfriend?

Its a game folks..... theres nothing "on the line" here......
