View Full Version : Wraith DR?

I've recently been seeing yellow numbers when punching some (or possible all) Wraiths. This seems new, but could just be because I've used mainly slashing on most of my previous combatents.

Can anyone tell me exactly which Wraiths have what kinds of DR and how much? Or point me to such information? Thanks!

(I know about the Incorporeal thing, I'm talking about what happens when I do hit. In fact, a recent attempt to use +5 Ghost Touch Handwraps dealt no damage AT ALL -- nothing but yellow 0s. Unfortunately can't remember exactly which Wraith that was.)

Oh and same question for those white incorporeal guys. Can't remember what they're called.

Those are specters (or spectres, maybe). One can only imagine that your +5 ghost touch hand wraps were doing no damage because hand wraps are cornfoozled.

my guess is he's thinking of quells.

Thanks! But I'm still pretty darn confused. What exactly counts as Magic then? I've never had any trouble hitting Wraiths with +X Ghost Touch slashing weapons, even with no other attributes.

Hm, I'm getting a vague recollection of a bug with GT handwraps (edit: referred to be bran before I wrote this I see). I sure thought I was seeing this with my non-GT handwraps, but I can't be absolutely sure. Don't suppose anybody remembers the fix for GT handwraps? Something with the altar maybe??

Bran is correct that handwraps are borked. They don't bypass DR the way they should.

none at all, the only "work around" is to use kamas if you're a finesse monk, or kamas/qstaffs if you're strength based.

For a character to do full unarmed damage to critters with DR/Magic (incorporeals, gargoyles, mephits, liches, etc.) you require Ki Strike: Magic, which is granted at monk level 6.

I think they have DR/Flametouched Iron. I don't know for-sure...but I think that is the case.

Got it! Thanks. So I'm mildly hosed, since I'll only ever have two levels of Monk but really benefit from the stance. But I have plenty of other options, just not *quite* as good. Thanks all for helping me out.
