My video up there is my swan song in the video world as well. All the issues I had with displaying the video and making them available for the fans to enjoy (and use in recruiting) has made it unbearable. 2009 has become the year of the copyright as YouTube and all the others have suddenly become much stricter than before. I love making these videos, but I hate finding a place to host them.

I tell you what.. They are all excellent.. Four is really well done and I applaud the person responsible. It was educational and totally found myself laughing at the amusing snippets..
No matter who you choose, if you are a veteran player in ddo the memories really get to you. These videos remind us of the old days and the lost players, friendships come and gone. They take us back to the days where breaking barrels hopefully gave you enough money to get through the next quest.
Thanks for reminding me of all the great things we've seen and lost.

honestly, 1 and 3 are very similar. Hard to decide on either of these so had to exclude both. 4 was boring but quaint. May be nice for a new player to get a feeling for all the areas though.
In the end, i picked #2 as most original & entertaining of the 4 presented.

Also having trouble viewing the ddocast links.. 1 and 4 are working fine though.
Have tried in both IE and Firefox.
edit: multiple reloads got me into #3 .. still trying on #2 .. Kind of looks like a load issue at ddocast.com or something. (go kick your gerbils, Jerry!)

Hmm unsure. DDOCast may be suffering from some "getting slammed by everyone" issues that could be causing it to not load properly.

And Kalanth's: http://ddocast.com/2009/04/03/kalanth--in-the-air-tonight.aspx

Ah, well the industry has changed my friend. We call it "inconvenience" now, but I can see how a video breaking your leg could cause such inconvenience. Tell you what, I will cover the lost wages here add increase my offer to a Donkey, two chickens, and a bail of hay. ;)

No offense to #1, but it's way to similar to all of Kalanth's videos.
#4 was funny at points, but it was a little slow and basic.
#2 definitely wins for me- good choice of music, and it's all user captured footage. #1 and #3 are mostly just DDO produced trailers (not to say that they aren't good in their own merit, but it's obvious the most user-driven video is #2)

Hey guys, if you have any trouble with the DDOcast link to "Why we love DDO", you can also try the following:
http://www.surfacingtalent.com/ddo/anniversarysummaryvideo_0001.wmv
This version is higher resolution....HOWEVER, note that it will take quite a while to load as this loads it directly into your mediaplayer and thus takes a minute or so to buffer (maybe more depending on your bandwidth). But the resolution is higher.
HUGE THANKS to Courderoyguy at DDOCast for helping out with all of this. I agree with Kalanth, this was very difficult as it kept getting knocked off of the regular sites. But thanks to DDOCast we still have a safe haven for the rest of the contest. And thanks to Tolero for dealing with the endless relinking that went on until this got sorted out!

In all truth I think Deathseeker's video (Why We Love DDO <#2>) is the best one as well. I voted for myself cause I am selfish, honestly, but his really captures DDO for what it really is. I was very impressed when he put his out.
Oh yes, and Jerry, DDOcast, and Tolero need big props for making this whole thing work out in the end.

I voted for #4 for one reason. It was the most original.
If you asked me which video creator had the best chance to do this kind of thing professionally, I'd shout out Kalanth!
Kalanth's choice of music and his impeccable use of timing visual cues in video with certain words, beats, etc. in the music was truly inspired.
I honestly believe Turbine should hire you Kalanth!
We love DDO because of the giants and DRAGONS!
Nicely highlighted in 'Why we love DDO'.

I have a new favorite website. Thanks Borror!
As for Copyrights... he has a very valid point. The view of the general public youth is that the law is in some way inherently evil, and malignant in its enforcement. It is a cancerous tumor that infects our great nation, but none are able to cut it out without extensive bloodshed, so they resign to simply let it be until it kills their creativity wholly. They live every day just trying to smile again, trying to forget the fact that they only have creative and free expression at the expense of it being illegal. The Constitution is something of a farce to a majority of them, and a "Bill of Rights" a foreign notion. They know they are not free and they try to forget.
Indeed, something must be done to stimulate this creativity and renew our culture, but the legal system is making every attempt to kill it.

www.ted.com is indeed a great website.
Indeed, something must be done to stimulate this creativity and renew our culture, but the legal system is making every attempt to kill it.
As Lessig said, the fact that the law "is stupid" or "evil" to most of our youth is also something very corrosive for a nation.
That's also a point to not forget.

As a person that has posted regularly on YouTube I must say that I did not know you could block certain regions and the poster also may not have know when putting it up there. We have had enough troubles with YouTube already that this may have just been an accident and nothing intentional.

Thats funny cause I don't know either and I did post on youtube too, even checked it to see how it can be done but found nothing. Albeit youtube is quite notorious for it's restrictions like this.
What's even more funny that I can watch most of his other videos but not this one. Really was just annoying cause everyone kept telling me to check it out cause it's so awesome ;)

Hey all!
I watched #'s 2,3 and 4; some good stuff there.
My prob is I an't watch #1 DDO's Cry. When i hit the link it takes me to youtube with an error message stating "this video is not available in your country". I live in the Philippines, btw.
Is there a way I can watch this video? I would hate to vote without watching all of them.
Thnx :)
Edit: I even tried signing into my youtube account and doing a search for "DDO's Cry', but search turned up 0 results :(

Hello Jarka!
The best way is to view it trough some American proxy server, not sure if you can watch youtube with anon ones.
Or just try this (http://unblockyoutubeproxy.net/search.php?u=Oi8vd3d3LnlvdXR1YmUuY29tL3dhdGNoP3Y9Z nd5VUgzZjVyam8%3D&b=2&f=norefer) link, but wouldn't be so sure in its safety and availability.

well if I have to pick from those four Ill take 4 as it is at least original, the other 3 are basically vid clips put to popular music. Two of them even mix in the same stock footage. I thought Guard Duty was by far the best vid. It poked a little fun at ddo but I thought it was original and funny and clever. Oh well.

Two of the videos are from YouTube. If it's mine, I appologize and it is fully unintentional as this is the first video I've ever made/posted. :( If it's the other one, carry on. ;)
But seriously, I can't even find somewhere to set/unset regional restrictions for the video.
