ok, ill do my best not to flame here..
i started this account during, i think, DDO's 1st year, been awhile so im not sure on that.
i left to find other games to play for not any one reason but in the early days there was a considerable lack on content.. my toon got to lvl 11 b4 i left to give you an idea of how long i was here for..
anyway.. like any good gamer i have never givin up on a game i love and this is one of them, i took a rest and god save my soul and redeem me, i went to WoW for a look..
"if there was a way to removes memories i would gladly pay"
ok to the point.. i jsut reinstalled from my original disk and here i am over 5 hours later STILL waiting on patching to complete.. now im not one to complain about patchs being big and full of great content, which from what i hear from other players of DDO is exactly what im in store for. /salute Dev's..
what i do have a problem with is 2 things.. forgive me if im out of line here as im not super smart when it comes to compressions and file types but i have 14,000+ files to download.. have turbine not heard of .rar .zip or any other compression format
the main files im d/loading is .dat this is where my knowhow of filetypes fails..
are .dat files able to be compressed? and if so.. why the hell are they not?..
my net speed isnt great.. 1.5Mbps or 160KBps.. and after 5 hours i still had just under 7,000 files to go..
my 2nd problem is "and i don't know if it just my isp, so again forgive me if im wrong"
but why cant i d/load these patchs directly from my ISP.. we here in aus get stuff all for our money when it comes to d/load limits, hell most of our **** ISP charge for uploads, so an option to d/load how ever many gigs of patchs from my isp would be greatly appreciated..
if it got to the point where my system fails for what ever reason and needs to be reinstalled again.. i would hate to have to d/load this again..
so i guess i have a question as well..
Once these patchs are d/loaded, will it be stored somwhere that i can copy it from and back it up on a CD so i never have to d/load this again?..
sorry again if this came across as a flame post, its more questioning after 5 hours of angry waiting..
