View Full Version : CC + Heavy Repeater Bard Build

I'm thinking of rolling a bard (they seem sexy after a quest I was on a few minutes ago with a few people). I just recently unlocked drow (I don't really want to drive up to 1750 favor on my current toon).

The idea I want to go with is to CC with a bit of damage support via heavy repeaters. I played around with the character planner and this is what I came up with. Please give me feedback, flame me, tell me I'm a moron, etc....:-D

The 4 major skills I'm looking at maxing out are:
Balance (I'm tired of getting tripped, anyone know what the max you need end-game is?)

Concentrate -- I'm assuming that missing with the charms, etc are going to **** stuff off.

Dip -- See Concentrate.

Jump -- Just fun to have a lot of jump laying around

Perform -- (this one is a 'duh' one)

Tumble -- I'm going high dex anyway, so why not

UMD -- Wands, equipment, raise dead scrolls, etc.

As such, I think I need about a 14 int (at least my math said I need a 14 to get these skills maxed + a few extra points laying around)

I have a cc repeater bard that I enjoy playing. she subs as my haggle bot to keep my clerics in scrolls
the only advice I would give is drop your intel. a bit and add the points to con.
Imo quicken is a great feat if you can fit it in. I took it instead of heighten

By dropping INT I ended up losing a ton of skill points and can't max my 'perferred' list of skills (I added that in an edit because I was playing around with int dropping when you replied). What skills other than perform and concentrate are important to a bard? (I was assuming UMD, jump and at least Dip, if not balance too)

The top 3 Perform , UMD , Diplomacy. All 3 are well known for why, Concentration depends on your bard build but still overall doesn't hurt to have. The last 2 or more if human/+int is mostly flavor/prefences like Haggle , Jump , Tumble , Balance , Move silent/Hide , bluff.

My suggestion would be to drop intel to a 10 and get your hands on a +2 intel tome. This should give you access to just about all of your skills I think, or atleast drop it to a 12 and eat a +2 tome. Next, I think your con will be fine at 12, just as long as you take the toughness feat, perhaps at creation, to get access to racial toughness, then craft you a greensteel hp item. Also, I didn't see extend anywhere in your feats. Extend seems like a must have on a bard imo for haste, buffs, etc. Finally, I drow get extra points added to their dexterity through action points. I think you will do just great with your build though. Maybe tweak it here or there. My starting numbers suggestion would be something like...
