View Full Version : Getting bonned

It’s must be me but I don’t feel like I’m getting all the large ingredients that I need to craft stuff. Over forty chains and bones and still have six or 4 of the other ingredients. Think devs need to review the drop rate according to crafting needs.
Most items require one or two bones and chains while all the others are in high demand. My suggestion would be to have the four chests in the last two parts of the Shroud to drop large ingredients versus the two. Reason being is that the 1st large ingredient chest drops at a rate of 50%. So for every Shroud run you may only get 1 large ingredient. Therefore people with only a couple toons will have to run the Shroud countless times and over a great period of time to achieve one single item.
This would also help our gaming community to catch up to the hard-core gamers and better gamming quality in pug groups for all and maybe help the casual gamer to stick with the game longer knowing his efforts will pay off sooner. Overall I would just like to see a better balance in ingredients and more larges to drop.

I think they did it that way to keep you running the shroud, it was there lame attempt at a time sink

I dont think they thought about the crafting ratios versus the drop rate at all.

Why should they? Some items are more rare than others. It's done intentionally.
I'm surprised they don't have a guy (like in Gianthold) to trade 5 bones for 1 Stone, or some such.

I wouldnt mind an exchange npc like the one in gianthold but for a 2-1 ratio considering how hard it is to farm large ingridients for some people.

For me, it's harder to get the relics in Gianthold, than it is to get large ingredients. If you get a decent item, trade it for larges. If you get an extra scale (don't laugh :-), trade it for several "other" larges.
IMO a 2-1 ratio would make scales and stones rarity, and thus value, crash. I like the fact that some ingredients are more difficult to gather than others; but I also think there should be some means (aside from trading with other players) to trade them in if you have crappy luck.

But that's not true. They all drop at about the same rate, its just that some ingredients are more useful than others because of the thematic choices they made in designing the recipies.

I disagree. I only have 1 Shroud ready toon, and have only ran a handful of times, but for small and medium ingredients I agree with you. For larges, I see a clear favorite toward Bones and Chains, and I have only got 1 scale, and no stones. Like I said, my sample size is small, but 5 bones, 0 stones doesn't seem like an equal drop rate to me.

They need to increase the drop rate of that first shard of power... or make them not bind so you can buy/sell/trade them.

My preference would be to have parts 1-2 of the Shroud drop small shards/ingredients, moving the altar to part 2. Then part 3 can drop medium, and 4-5 large. That way, you have two chests for every tier. That would even out the disparity between the tiers somewhat, at least. As for the large ingredients, a trader would be nice, preferably on a 3-1 ratio.(Expensive, but not a total ripoff)

Exactly. Random chance is a *****. And an extremely, annoyingly, frustratingly, and disgustingly overused one in the video game industry.
Random doesn't mean you will get roughly the same amount of ingredients over a few dozen runs, or even necessarily over a few hundred runs. It means that you have a chance(presumably equal, in this case) at any individual ingredient at any single pull. You could well get 150 bones in 200 runs and nothing else and that wouldn't be evidence that bones were more likely to drop. Now if everyone recorded all their drops and compiled them in a huge list we might be able to draw some conclusion on what the drop rates are, but short of a sample size in the thousands if not tens or hundreds of thousands of pulls we really can't come to any reasonable conclusion. And forum/player anecdotes just aren't good evidence.
Hell if we go by my pulls scales are the most likely, shrapnel & bones the least. But ultimately i'd bet that they all have the same, or very close to the same drop rates.
