Has any information been released (one way or the other) about changes/additions to Shroud crafting in the new mod? Simply knowing whether or not there will be any would help tremendously. I've been waiting to make anything new just in case...

Taken from Gamebanshee's interview (http://www.gamebanshee.com/interviews/dndonline6-2.php):

GB: What new raids will be introduced in Module 8 and Module 9? Any chance you can give us an example or two of new raid loot being introduced in either of these two modules?

Kate: Well, Module 8 doesn’t include a raid – we heard from a lot of players that raids as the only end game wasn’t ideal, so we are giving those who don’t love raids a break in this module with a final dungeon that is a very challenging 6 person adventure. Module 9 will definitely include a fantastic raid (hope you like a whole lot of Pit Fiends and Horned Devils) and we’ve got some great raid loot to go with it. These raid items will not leverage the crafting system – that is something for M8, but in M9 we are focusing on more traditional named raid items that instead combine to greater heights. Some of the high-level Enhancements players can get at level 20 will also stack with the raid set bonuses to give even greater benefits.

When asked:

GB: Green Steel crafting was introduced in Module 6 and expanded a bit in Module 7. Do you plan to expand crafting even further with new items and potential effects? If so, are there any examples you can give us?

Kate talked about Dragontouched armor and nothing else. There was no mention of new types of crafting or changes to current types. That's the official stuff so far.

Now for my extrapolations, I would assume that crafting is not getting touched in Mod 9. As far as how Mod 9 might indirectly affect current crafting, the only potential concern is that new raid items / quest rewards could be better than things we can currently craft. I see that as both good and bad. It's great to have an improvement to strive for (new shinies are great), but imagining something that out-performs greensteel weapons is frankly just scary, and not in a good way.

This is another discussion entirely, but greensteel quality stuff is the kind of thing I would expect to be end-end-game, the best you can get. Having it at level 16 seems almost like cheating.

Having said that, you will only ever get my rogue's radiance simitar one of two ways:

by the business end, or

with my lifeless (and heavily rigor mortis stricken) hand still attached

Lets face it , regular crafting of items is dead, simply because there is nothing we can craft that beats GS crafting, and if it does, it will be so over powering that the game would be just broken.

The future of crafting as part of the economy would be to allow the crafting of consumables like scrolls, potions and wands, and limeted use clickies, allow players to ma these things and remove them from the shops, except low levels scrolls, wands and potions.

Actually I asked this question in Guild chat a while back and got crickets.

But honestly I think a lack of crating in the new MOD is a bad idea. Take the Shroud. People are still grinding for ingredients. Why? Because there's great stuff that can be created for any class. Expanding on this, either with more shroud recipes, or another raid to craft in, can only keep the hard core interested for more than 3 days (and you know there are people that will have completed the new content on elite in three days or sooner. It's just our nature).

Crafting has huge potential. I hope Turbine realizes it and expands it. And soon.
