I have made a 1st lvl Rogue on the intent to make a 2 rogue/6 ranger/ 8+ fighter. I wanted evasion and Tempest. Just like everyone else I'm looking for DPS, AC, Saves a plus. I don't want part pally since I'm making a pure one next and not interested yet in messing with monk multiclasses.
He is Drow. I just want to know what class at what level is recommended to take to maximize usefulness. Here are his starting stats in case I need to reroll him. I'll be using piercing, TWF.
Str: 16
Dex: 16
Con: 13
Int: 10
Wis: 11
Chr: 11
I was going to go with UMD. No Weapons finesse. I do have +1 Tomes in all Stats to eat. Should I reroll or please point me in the right direction on what class to take at what levels. I would be interested in what you think about lowering one or more stats to add more Int for Combat Exp. I COULD just wait for a +3 Int Tome. If I need to list more info about what I want, let me know. Any info would help.
Thanks

Drop your Wis to 9 and eat a tome. Use the extra points to raise Int by 2 for CE ( with another +1 tome ). And yes, take PA as well. Swap between the 2 as the situation calls for AC or max DPS.
As a level 6 ranger, you're only going to be throwing Ram's might and jump anyways. You won't need the extra SPs, and an extensial stalemate item is easy to work in on any build. You can even build it as part of your Cha skills item for UMD ( neg/pos/pos on a cloak will get ya +6 Wis, disease and blindness immunity, extra Sps, +10 haggle, and +5 Cha-based skills ).
I run this same build on a halfling. Nimane is beastly with burst DPS ( Fighter's haste boost III + tempest , halfling guile, ect. )
It's a fun build bro.

What do you anticipate your dex to be at end game? I'm seeing 21 w/o item, just wondering.

As far as Lvl progresion, I'd take your 6 ranger lvls, have Tempest by lvl 7, then Rog (or anytime before lvl 10), then Ftr, 2 lvls of Ftr for str, a bit more HP's, and the Evasion will play better by lvl 10 for GH.

20 without item. 16 + Ranger Dex II + Elven Dex II. Rogue Dex I won't stack with Ranger Dex. So, +6 item and +2 tome, and he'll be sitting at 28.
I personally took my level ups to Dex. Currently sitting at a 34. More synergetic with the build IMHO. Reflex save DCs are increasingly high in endgame elite, and evasion doesn't mean **** if you can't make those DCs. Also allows for higher AC.
Nimane sits at a 24 Str before Ram's, rage, madstone, ect. Little low, but that's offest somewhat by Halfling guile. More than adequate IMHO. But the OPs an elf, so he can't get those enhancements.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was going to concentrate on Str and Dex at level ups. I can always get the +2 Tomes to help out as well. Bandy, I do like your Idea to reroll and drop WIS to 9, so I can add to INT to get CE (But I wouldn't have to if I can find a +3 INT tome, I think). I went with a litte higher WIS to help with saves in the long run.
I have lots of rapiers, that's why I was going to stick with that. I also have lots of Bastys and thought about taking the Oversized TWF to duel-wield two. I never kept Khopeshes so not going that route. Should I still with rapiers or go for the duel bastys? I know the bastys would probably give me more DPS, but by how much? Wouldn't I use 2 extra feats if I went the Duel Basty way? Not sure if it would be worth it.
As far as my end Dex, hopefully at least 28+ like Bandy explains. I'll try to get STR and DEX as high as I can. I used the character generater, but I usually can't tell how it's actually going to turn out until I make a character since different items help out.
Thanks

Rapier is a superior weapon to a bastard sword. You'll do far more DPS with rapiers, just via the extra crit range.
Since you're an elf, you can also take the elven melee attack and damage enhancements that will net you +2 to-hit and damage with the rapiers. That will make their DPS **** near equal to a Khopesh.

rapier enhancments make them equal and you can get a better to hit out of it.
Personally i'd have started with rogue first to max skill points then 1 ftr then 6 ranger fighter rest of the way tempest by 8.
I'd go all lvl ups is str 16 dex+4 enhancments+6 item +2 tome is 28 dex thats plenty high and goes better with fighter str 3 and 5 lvl ups to make them even +4 tome eventually.
Dodge mob spring attack by lvl 3 is helpful for those jumping kobolds.

I like the character so far. He's level 3. This was going to be my class by level:
1 Rogue
2 Ranger
3 Ranger
4 Ranger
5 Ranger
6 Ranger
7 Ranger
8 Rogue
9 Rest in Fighter
Should I stagger out the Ranger levels and take some Fighter earlier or 2nd level of Rogue later? I did end up rerolling and doing (+1 Tomes to eat from the start):
Str 16
Dex 16
Con 13
Int 12 (For CE)
Wis 9 (Don't like the Will saves so far though, but wanted CE)
Chr 11 (Will take as much UMD as I can)

like i said i'd go
1 rogue dodge
2 ftr mobility
3 ranger spring attack
because it's very helpful at low levels when your to hit isn't way up there and mobs like to jump around alot.
4 ra
5 ra
6 ra ce
7 ra
8 ra
9 ftr wf pierce ic pierce
10 ro brings your umd back to max with 9 pts use points before this on ranger levels for ballance and openlock 12 int allows you to max umd the rest of your levels and 1 point in another area
11 ftr
12 ftr ws pierce gtwf
13 ftr
14 ftr pa/stunning blow/improved trip
15 ftr one of the ones from above or toughness
16 ftr gwf pierce

Ok thanks Lifewspawn. I'm already at 1 rogue/2 ranger, so I'll just take fighter next to get mobility, finish out to level 6 ranger for Tempest, then I should be in-line with what you list. I like the feat selection as well.
Thanks

it just makes it that much easier to level up that spring attack is a huge bonus at low levels when your trying to run things on elite for max xp
