Is splash of Palidan worth it?

I have dwarven fighter that I indend to follow the Stalwart Fighter/ Dwarven Defender PrE. What I would like to know if taking one level of a palidan would be worth it.
Would I gain +2 AC and saves instantly or is that only for allies?
Would I be able to use cure wands...even with only 1 lvl pally?
Is there anything else I would be giving up other than the fighter capstone (as I understand it it would provide fighters with 10% attack speed)?


Note that I only have a 6 Charisma and 10 Wisdom so I assume that smite evil would be useless and taking the pally to 2nd lvl would not give the saves boots from charisma.

Why bother. Take 2 Barbarian levels or 2 Ranger.

I have a dwarven 15f/1p at the moment -- I wish he were 16f but that's another story.

Since I can't get the capstone, as a matter of fact, i do plan on going 18f/2p.

With 6 starting Cha, you can still hit a high enough Cha for it to make a difference, especially in Mod9.

6 +3 tome (supposedly unbound +3's will be dropping) +1 enh +6 item = 16

That's +3 to all my saves. Not amazing, but... unless lvl 19F has some amazing enhancements, I don't see what I'd be giving up to take that second pally level.

Forgot the mention that my alignment is LG...so barb is out of the question.
Also, I'm an axe&shield type fighter...to be a Dwarven Defender PrE.
Not sure what other benefits I would get as a ranger.

I would go 14/6, fighter/pally. 6 lvls of pally gives you DS and the US clickies that are very nice. plus 2 or 3 LOH.
