I have an interesting situation here. I am trying to salvage an old character. She is currently fighter7/rogue1 and has TWF. I plan on taking 6 lvls of ranger for tempest, but I dont want to double up on the TWF feat (took it at lvl 6 way back before tempest). So my question is this. Will I be able to take ITWF next level and be able to swap out the TWF feat I took at 6 some time after my second ranger level when i get that feat for free? Does that make sense?

I'm not positive, and someone else may have a more definitive answer.

All I can tell you is that it's buggy, and if you want to ensure you don't get stuck somehow, swap out TWF'ing before leveling.

Agreed. I had a similar situation and swapped out the TWF before I leveled to avoid any problems. Seemed to work fine that way.

lets not forget the other reason to swap out before you lvl to 9. lvl 9 wil lrequire a full dragonshard and cost more plat to do it. swapping at lvl 8 is cheaper and uses only a imperfect shard.

so yeah i'd also be in the camp that says swap before lving up. just sit on the xp until your ready to lvl up, swap the feat then lvl up into ranger 2.

I didnt know about the increased cost of feat respec at lvl 9. Looks like Ill respec before then, even if it means I go sword and board exclusively for a few levels. Thanks.

Although I have been a long time player this may be a newbie type of question.

Isn't TWF a requirment for ITWF? If so, then you would need to have TWF in order to get ITWF, wouldn't you?

Also, doesn't TWF and ITWF stack since it is a feat?

I know its a bit confusing, but I took TWF at lvl 6. Im lvl 8 now. Ill have 2 lvls of ranger at lvl 10 (and the free TWF feat). I had every intention of taking ITWF at 9, but with the new enhancement lines I am choosing to take some ranger levels for tempest. I just dont want to waste that lvl 6 feat on something Ill get for free eventually. Hence the respec.
