Rogue Splash Why Wait?

Sometimes I hear it is better to wait to take a second level of rogue for skills.
Can anyone explain the benefit of waiting to take a second level of rogue then to go for it in the lower levels if you are only doing two levels of rogue.

because rogues get so many skilll points that it is easier to max rogue skills - umd, lockpick, disable - when you take them many levels apart
