Seriously though what can I do to add something more than just blind dps to this build? I like my toons to do lots of things, thats why I like wizzies over sorcs and built my first ranger as a utility dex build.

dude, no disrespect towards the class, but imho, pure barbs are a no-brainer. There is not much flavor to give them unless you decide to go 14 barb / 2 ftr TWF pierce spec´d with built in grandfathered crit rage before its late.
flame away.

Well the best thing about barbarians is dps. If you are going straight class then there is not a whole lot you can do. Keep intimidate maxed(which looks like you have). Other then that looks pretty solid.

A Point in tumble is way more beneficial over two points in Listen.
You want Flavor? Use Falchions or GreatClubs.

Take 1 off of CON and the 2 off of WIS and get DEX up to 14 or 15. With +2/+3 tomes, that will allows you to get your base DEX to 17 and access greater two-weapon fighting if you decide to respec later on.
It doesn't really add more flavor but it at least adds flexibility. If you get tired of THF and decide to change at higher levels, at least you don't have to completely re-roll.
That's all I really have to offer. Barbs aren't really flashy. Unless you get a pretty pink docent.

Dont forget the +2 intel tome at creation for the extra skill points.
Doing backflips and sommersaults while in defiance mode is very cool too btw (but you already know this)

Thank you but I will absolutely not want to switch to TWF with this build, I am quite fond of THF as is and mod 9 will only improve upon it. I am actually deleting a twf barb to roll this build.

Flavor generally equals gimpier as far as barbs are concerned.

That's fine. I'd still prefer DEX over WIS for the reflex saves. That's just a personal preference though.
My WF barb is a maul user as well and I won't be changing him for the world either. :)

Ditch Improved Critical; Slashing, from there pick up Improved Critical; Bludgeon, use Weighted 5% Mauls preferably +3 or better and if you could find a Holy or Elemental you will mow down every trash mob in your path come M9. Ps; Make a Mineral2 Greataxe.
Also, if you want more flavor make him theme based like, see how many guard items you can put on him, for example, Docent of Defiance/DT Docent with Radiance and Corrosive Salt guards, Radiance2 Hp and guard crafted item(2 item slots), Bramble Casters, etc.

Some good points there. Groan (Nick) now has a legendary DQ completion where he beat the **** out of the DQ using his... Guards !!! rotfl

Actually, mauls don't sound too bad......
And I am likely to stack this guy with all sorts of guards.

Yep, 2hF Enhancement Line + Greater 2hF + Frenzied Breserker III + Mighty(Capstone) + Weighted 5% Maul = Insanity
Imagine Defiance with Radiance Guards(50% miss chance that stacks with Blur/Displace, - Dex bonus to Ac, - 30% movement speed, - 2Ac)... and that is only if they hit you before they are stunned.

Here is what I rolled, I put down imp crit:slash but I am considering going with bludgeoning and using weighted mauls as was suggested above.

Couple of suggestions on starting points
Dump Intel to an 8 and eat a +2 intel at creation for the extra skill points.
Pump up wisdom. Base 6 wisdom ? Even a kobold is gonna be commanding you.
Just my 2 cp.

Never had an issue with 6 wis before, Killer, Shadow and Chanter all have base 6 wis. Also, i kinda find the idea of a smarter barbarian amusing. I hvae a bad time looting +2 tomes, I have gotten far more +3's from Reaver than I ever have unbound 2's. Think I have looted 2 and gave one to Ph, whereas I have pulled at least 10 3's from the Reaver. so that is why I haven't planned on any +2's

You must roll a lot of 20´s against greater command :D
Killer and Shadow are casters, not frontline tanks. Huge difference.
The idea of a smarter barbarian is not a role playing thing Flesh. Its extra skill points. Its versatility.
If you need a tome just holler man. But you already knew that.

Wouldn't be the first rp choice I have made, despite never playing rp-style, except when I play my 1/2-ling as an annoying little twerp. :D
And yes Shadow and Killer are casters but Chanter is frontline as well, and I have never seen an issue. Here's what i will do though, I am going to calculate Shredder's raged will save and compare it to Chanter's. I'm not really sure what the will progression is on a barb vs a bard (hadn't thought of that til just now) so I suppose it could make a difference. :P

Looks like a bard has an inherent +10 will save @16 while a barb has +5, of course rage and enhancements can make up the difference. Man, though still can't remember the last time Chanter was commanded.

Well, now that Chanter is in AM, get ready to be commanded constantly, commanded to sing courage, cast haste and rage on Groan.
Hahahaha

Pulled a +2 wis tome on a Shroud hard run so I just ate that for more will. Seemed equivalent to taking the points out of int and putting em in wis and eating an int tome. Really thinking about going the maul route too.

WF DPS that can do many things with flavor? Easy- Tempest III 18ranger/1rogue/1 fighter or 1 monk. Power Attack with three ranks of WF racial added on. All kinds of buff magic, can charm doggies, evasion, 40 UMD, Intimidate in the high 40s to low 50s, can switch to Many Shot to deal short bursts of ranged dps and isn't crying about how hard the Vicious effect hurts from frenzied bezerker. Season to taste. As emeril said earlier in the thread- BAM! :)
