So i really like the look of TWF and the way daggers look, i was wondering if daggers would be viable weapons to TWF at end game? thinking something like drow (dont have 32pters yet) ftr2/rnger14+.. Thanks.

You give up a fair amount of damage with daggers relative to other pierce spec'd weapons (especially relative to the much vaunted rapier), largely due to the poorer crit range and somewhat due to the lesser base damage (though greensteel daggers do 1-6 base so its not horrible there).

If you want smallish weapons for a different look you might consider kukri's which still have the same crit range of the rapier (though even with those I am sure that alot of people will look at you a bit funny, and their are no racial enhancements for these).

Novelty weapon choices (those that don't do max damage) are for people who either don't care what others think of them, or who lack the funds to acquire the best of the popular weapons (popular 1h weapons to include ~: Rapier, Khopesh, Dwarven Axe, and to a lesser extent Picks). Scimitars often get the bum's treatment and are probably not considered popular even though they do fairly nice damage.

The less popular (gimp) weapons such as daggers, shortswords, kukris, scimitars, longswords and bastard swords can be found at insanely low prices, so that might be an attractive feature. If you plan on capping a character and then doing alot of raiding I would tend to shy away from these weapons and go with one of the popular ones. (in the dedicated raiding type groups, every point of damage counts.. or at least thats probably the prevelant opinion)

If you want to use daggers, go for it. You will not be a gimp.

I use longswords on my main (he's elf so he gets the racial enhancements, and I'm hoping they add Whirling Steel Strike in to make longswords Ki weapons) and he has no trouble dealing damage or holding aggro on late game raid bosses (even with the aggro reduction from Tharne's set).

Play how you want to play.

Play how you want to play.

:)

agreed... if "how you want to play" includes being ok with doing ~20% less damage then what you could be doing with more powerful weapons. Some people will accept you for doing it, but be prepared that other people will think you are a sub-optimal build.

well.. i decided i will go ahead and make a char that i can use daggers with if i want, but also has the ability to use rapiers well.. let me know what you think, and / or any improvments you could suggest. I #1 cannot afford the w/p rapier uberness.. but figured this char could use the weaps and rely on the crits instead of stat dmg till i can get a w/p rapier or hell just a punct rapier. but also if i wanted to throw on some nice daggers just for flair i could without any real penalty.. so here it is.. be gentle i havnt made many character builds..

I went with drow because i dont have 32pt builds yet.. and i went with ranger first o get tempest quick.. i had concidered going with fighter after ranger 6 but wanted bark skin and other self buffs. also will end up being ranger 18 ftr 2 when they raise the cap. ok.. enough of my rambling.
