Discuss the upcom (http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt283/itsapuzzle/01100010.jpg?t=1243551900)ing Module 9 feature: shared banking!

Here are the details, as mentioned in Kate Paiz's Letter To Players:

All subscribers will be able to open their bank, click on the new tab, and place items from your inventory that are bound to account inside this bank tab (bound to character items, mostly raid items, will not be transferable to this tab). Then any other characters on the account can login and pull any of those items into their inventory (note: each bank tab is shard specific – only characters on Argonnessen can reach the Argonnessen shared bank).

PS. I assume the letter is incorrect to imply that non-bound items can't be placed in this bank.

Cool! Does this mean it will be a separate tab within the bank or just work off the ones we have already? If not, any chance we can get a 4th or 5th bank tab? O.o

Can you tell us how many item's it will hold?

I think if you have one Character with all required house k favor you have 3 tab's in your bank and can put 60 (20 per page) items in the bank so my question is how many items will the shared bank be able to hold.

Jefro

free 5 slots in my bank that are not raid items :D

But i can see this tab being useful to hold your greater contruct, transumting greater evil outsider bane, collectibles and ingreds. Since those are the items I transfer alot.

Tolero,

The term "items bound to an account" makes no sense to me.

Unless its making bound items useable on all characters on your account "which is the best idea i've never thought of to reduce the unbearable freaking gind for raid items"

Then just say you can share loot with other toons on your account without mailing it please. The way its worded is very confusing as its writen and i can't really give a decent opinion on it if i don't understand what it does.

Unless that was the point?

Also if thats all it does is let you share loot. Why not take it a step further and allow shared guild banking as well, With the guild leader being able to assign access to select members?

Very Respectfully

The term "items bound to an account" makes no sense to me.
It makes the item rarer: Bound to Character > Bound to Account > Unbound.

If you are done with that BtA +5 MFP, and none of your character can use it, then it's one less +5 MFP in circulation.

Yea, I think she meant Bound to Character. So, there will be NO sharing of Bound items via the shared account.

I hope this might be the first step toward a Guild Bank.

The way i read it is:

Bound to account refers to items that can only be transferred to characters that are on a single account. If you have two accounts and you want to send that +5 mithril full plate from account one, to someone on account two, you will have to mail it. Account two will not be able to access account one's bank tab to pull that +5 mithril full plate out.

That's how i understand it anyways.

Ok i think i see what you guys are saying. Essentially any item that is tradeable on any of your toons can be put in the shared bank for that account.

Meaning the items are bound to that account for shared banking purposes. Makes sense. Gonna be needing atleast one extra bank slot for that to help me though. = )

While, as pointed out, the wording is needlessly confusing (unless you are introducing Account Bound items), switch it to character bound....

The idea is a good one, and should cut down on the amount of mail we all send.

I could be wrong but I think the idea is:

Items your character on KHYBER gets that are not bound to her, can be placed in the shared Account Bank.
This would include all of those neat items for your lowbie you pull, will be transferable to the shared tab.

I would also be able to drop collectibles and gems and even mana pots.

"Account Bound" to me = Your account on a server. Not additional binding mechanics.

I could be wrong but it seems simple to me.

Agree, along with some of the other yummies posted today (combat, chat tab etc.) just random pics of those would be ok, we can discern from there.

Also mebbe a quick blurb or two about "account" and "bound" and "only" and how those terms all fit together in this bank tab program. I have a hunch it doesnt mean what we think it means, and if it does i guess i'd just like a little more clarification.

Thats me tho, i'm quite happy with what i have thus far, ]

To use the same example I did earlier;

Lorricch could put non-bound item 'A' in the shared account and Lorrich could log on and take it.

That is how I have read the information.

Not sure if this has been asked or not, or if it is even a feature being considered....

It would sure be nice to be able to place ... err... dare I say ... money in the bank. Now that we are getting an account wide bank, it would sure be nice to be able to put the PP in there to share between our toons so we don't have to constantly make the PP transfers via mail and otherwise.

How about it?? Thoughts on this...

(I posted this in Mod 9 post from Neried but this seems like a better place)

I assume that they are adding a new type of binding - Bound to Account. This is in addition to bound to character.

So "CharX" would take a non-bound item to the stone of change, do a ritual to make it account bound (similar to the character binding routine), then put it in the account/shard bank. "CharY" can take the item out and use it but cannot pass it on to another player or put it on the AH. Some future items might come as "account-bound" (on equip or acquire) as well.

So if you want to share things using this format, you lose the ability to pass it on to another player. If you don't want that penalty, you will need to mail it.

UPDATE: So this was wrong as Phax explains below. Unbound items can go into the shared bank.

okay, now i have a question, kinda shameless one...
im one of those who abused the server merge and i have 18 characters in one account, will this work properly under such a circumstance?
i know my signature thing on the forums don't display all of my characters (way too many) so im kinda worried.
i know a lot of ppl will laugh at me, but im a absolute pack rat, needed 8 mules for 10 actual playable characters... thank you!

If "bound to account" means something like above, where i lose the ablility to trade or sell the item other than to general brokers, just to gain the ability to have every character access items that i have to bind, then i'm suddenly not very excited abut this for some reason. I'm hoping that i'm just really dense and just not getting it for some reason, or that what was said at beginning of op, was a bit misleading.

Hey guys,

Some items in M9 will be Bound to Account. No existing items will become bound to account. More information regarding bound to account items will be forthcoming in future announcements. These items will only be transferable to your other characters through the shared bank. You can also put any non-bound items in the shared bank.

You cannot place plat in the shared bank, sorry :(.

The shared bank shows up as an additional tab when you access your normal bank. The UI will look more like the Buy Back tab that shop keepers have than the existing bank, and will have twenty item slots available.

I think that answers most of your questions!

Well, if design had their way the two would look exactly the same. Unfortunately on the technical side it doesn't work out that way. So, the reasons are technical. Cheifly among them being it would involve an inordinate amount of time spent reworking the UI (wouldn't it be grand if we were just a MUD? ACII art for the win! :D). Maybe Zyrca can work some magic....

That is what I thought but I wanted confirmation. I thought it may have been you guys thought it would be better to view the items' name directly other having to hover our mouse over it and if that was the case I would have pointed out that scrolling down would be a greater inconvenient.

You are kidding me right? 20 slots is a solid amount. Sure more would be nice but have it tied to favor or something at least.

This is great if you roll a new toon. Put the items in the shared area. Roll him up. Go to the bank and there you go.

How many things do you really need to share?

A great addition to this shared bank tab would be to make bank instances such as the Lordsmarch Bank and the House Kundarak Bank to have the same logout speed that taverns do. I always find it annoying when transferring stuff and I have to wait for that slow logout.

Here is my question, left unsaid is whether or not this feature will or will not (assumed) be tied to favor and/or require a portable hole which needs fixing ... do you know if either of these will apply? Or will there be any "opening mechanism" to get the tab or is it with you from scratch?

Thanks!

What would be nice is if Turbine could figure out how to do a "money bag" similar to ingredient bags, but you can put an amount of plat in them and place it in the shared bank slot. Even if there is a cap on it, most of us wouldn't mind. I rarely send more than 20k plat to a starting character, so if I want to reroll and forget to send it back, no big deal.

The  is for those that know me in game and know how constantly poor I am as compared to them...but having 3 capped clerics can get expensive sometimes :D

Or better yet, just simply have money be an ACCOUNT item. In other words, you wouldn't need to send PP to a toon, since it would be available on all toons. Alternately, (and likely better for those that want no-twink toons) have a system where you can transfer funds between characters at the bank. Instead of having to log out, log in to toon 2. put money in a shared bank/mail money to toon 1, then log out, and log back into toon 1 to retrieve the funds, you could just pull it from the other toon.

All subscribers can, for example, get access to the marketplace too or increase their backpack space per character - after they fulfill certain obligations. While I am inclined to agree with your interpretation, I would like Tolero to verify it.

Is there a filter on these forums so you can replace a word for another?

If so, once Top Secret finally comes out, it should be set to replace soon by Soon™.

Would it be possible to transfer items that we bound to our characters ourselves using the alter? I mean, its still bound to our account and can't be sold or transfered to others so it would be cool to be able to transfer these self-bound items between our own characters...
:)

And NO, I'm not referring to Greensteel...

Discuss the upcoming Module 9 feature: shared banking!

Here are the details, as mentioned in Kate Paiz's Letter To Players:

I like the concept. I am left to wonder a few things though:

1. Are "bound to account items" strictly going to drop from new content?
2. Will there be a ritual to bind items to an account similar to binding items to a character?
3. Will items bound to an account also not suffer permanent damage?
4. How many slots are available in the shared bank.
5. Will "Bound to account" items be sellable to vendors?

Comments:

1. My hope is that we will be able to flag items we already possess as "Bound to account" items. This would enable many of us with mule characters to free up another precious character slot.
2. It certainly would save me the cost of mailing items from character to character.
3. If there is a ritual needed to bind items to account, I hope it does not require a grind or the collection of ingredients. It would be nice if we could just flag any item we wanted bound to account.

talking with a friend and he mentioned no shared bank tab info in the release notes, can anyone confirm they are on lammania?

I noticed it wasn't in the release notes. Can someone from Turbine please address this?

There are two tabs at the top of the bank window, One is "Character", and one is "Account"

So far, Account side is 20 slots, and looks like a vendor listing. You drag/drop items into or out of it. Any char you have can go to a bank and select the Account tab and retrieve the booty.
Haven't heard whether we'll be able to open up more Account side space. I have 1750, and max Coin/K favor on some chars and still only have space for 20 items.

Have found one Account Bound item so far. Pillar of Light staff is retroactively Account Bound.
