Dear Turbine cheque signers,
I have a suggestion that could buy your team the much desired breathing room to get the Module released w/o causing a riot while they wait.
My suggestion is give the famous and esteemed "Ron" (from the forums who designed the wonderful DDO character Generator) a donation of between 500 - 1000$ and the relivant info to update his character planner up to level 20 with the new enhancements, capstones and PrC's. This would almost be like giving us new content. Anyways Turbine think about it and DDO'ers sign, or don't sign this petition.

Did anyone talk to Ron about this? Fairly sure the DDO Character Planner is a hobby for him and he actually has a job.
If he wanted to make money off the character planer all he'd have to do is pop a donate button into it.....
And the idea that Turbine would release all the Spells, Feats, Enhancments, and PrE's for L16-20 ahead of release for is ludicros.

Sorry to rain on your parade with reality.Aw, come on, man.... putting a /signed in a post like this is like putting down a few bucks on the PowerBall when the jackpot gets up into the hundred millions...
Yeah, the chances of it happening are slim to none - but it's fun to just dream for a few minutes that it might.

Yes, modifying my stance as you are all correct, the chance of this happening...slim to none, so work will continue if and when Ron decides to go open source...

The problem is that the "Dreams" have gotten out of hand lately.... Yes, I understand we're all anxious for Mod 9. Maybe a bit preturbed by the lack of info, but creating thread after thread after thread asking for info, and release dates, and Previews, and abbot updates, and Monk AC, and W/P, and whatever else people can think of doesnt do any good. At best we get a dev response that when you disect it says absolutely nothing. It just generates MORE frustration.
Building up dreams and expectations with no basis only leads to more dissapointment overall.
Guess what? We're not gonna have L17-20 Loot in the tables this weekend either. and no, I dont play the lottery either :)

Didn't you use Ron's planner on all of your *****y builds? Everything that's ever happened in the history of man has started with a good idea like Jond's.
Sitting back and saying it'll never happen is easy and typical. Doing what Ron and Turbine have already done is exceptional. Leave the dreaming to the guys who can.
The good news is that the naysayer niche is all yours.

Of course I use the Planner. I just dont like building up expectations for no reason.
Dreams, Fantasy's they are all well and good if you understand that they arent real. If you realize the likelyhood of the outcome you desire.
I prefer Goals.
THis isnt about naysaying, its about being tired of seeing so many people getting their hopes up only to see them crash and burn when nothing, again, comes from it. Petitions dont work folks. as unlikely as it seems right now, Turbine has a Plan.... SOme sort of goal they are striving for, and we just have to wait.

When you go to the DL site for the the planner you can make a donation I know a few people who have.
It would be pretty easy for Turbine to give exclusive access to Ron to make an "unofficial" things may change character planner lvl 1-20. Or even better, buy the rights off of Ron after he updates (with info given under a non disclosure contract)
Not to make what he does sound easy ( I certainly dont have the skill, or knowledge to do it) but at this point the program code for the planner is already written, I think all that he has to do is add the info into the tables (notice how the planner already has tabs up to lvl 20).

Ive got $20 to donate...I'd even pay it straight to Turbine if they would release all the info in text form...for that matter, they can have Eladrin do it and leave out all the vowels...Im still fine with it!

Aside from assuming that the devs have made all the relevant decisions regarding the relevant info, it's a pretty good idea. Of course, i'm not willing to make that assumption.
I'm not exactly sure how this is better than posting the info on the forums and stamping it with "approved, final version: to be released in mod9" though. Afterall, ron would probably start putting them in his builder for free at that point.

Does the use of asterisks somehow allow you to bypass the "No personal Attacks" forum rule? Seriously, I have a right to my "Naysaying" opinion as much as you have the right to participate in Petitions and Fantasy. I'm not calling anyone names because they want this to happen.. I'm only injecting my opinion and dose of reality.
I have to agree.
And, I think, those that are hinging their life on new content or info about DDO need to adapt and live moreso than for the game. I <3 the game and have 2100+ hours logged on Xfire in DDO alone, but the high hopes, ideas and potential possibilities lead to many feeling like they're let down because things don't get implemented.
Reality is good. And the asteriks personal attacks bypass trick was so January 2009.
IAW all content, spells, etc released: /notsigned
PS: In no way am I saying the Character Planner Generator isn't worth donations -- and if I used it more than once I certainly would donate because the obvious effort is there. However, I would also be even more apt to give a donation of $10/mo to a Turbine/Third Party/Atari advertisement & publicity campaign. I could even write it off on my taxes if they worded the donation as "Creating awareness and cultivating the role-playing and massive multi role-playing aspect of social interaction amongst decades of fantasy authors and enthusiasts." Yes, mission statements can do that.

/signed. Though it may be more of a pain for Ron. I'm sure not everything has been decided on.

You are mistaken. Unless someone else has mirrored it and are taking donations "for me" (and I'd be VERY interested to know if that's the case:) ). There is no donation button on my site, nor will there ever be (for the planner). I have never made a dime from the planner, that's not the reason I wrote it.
And (getting back to the original idea) I suspect the reason Turbine can't do this is simply because you never know what will change before it hits live. If they knew 100% for sure what would appear in Mod 9, they would tell us all, heh. I'm sure they know what they *want* to go into Mod 9, and some things are finalized (perhaps), but they aren't going to know *exactly* what will end up there until the day the final reports come in from QAU greenlighting the last bit of code.
It's a nice thought, but it's impractical both for them and for me (imagine me updating all the data only to find out 30% of it is wrong and having to go back in and fix it all when Mod 9 went live. A lot more work for me!).

Admit it though, if a thick envelope arrived in your mailbox with the beta-level plans for the new level data, a check and the blessings of Turbine to "unofficially" use the information...you'd write it up in the planner as fast as your little fingers could wiggle, and cash the check besides.
And we'd all cheer you. (again)
Besides, that's why people make code forks and have multiple backups at different stages... ;)

Hello, Ron! & Good luck with your main coding project -- I know that's taking up the time you'd spend on thsi in any case...

Indeed I would :)

Yeah. I've never put the character planner up on my Subversion server, for no apparent reason. I probably should. Lord knows it's saved me a million times on other stuff ;)

I'm not into pushing false hope.
I've gotten reality jolts good and bad, but refuse to demand something get better when it's the company's responsibility to resolve the communication between staff and the consumers.
And know that I am a counselor that helps people with abuse, mental disorders and addictions, so I *DO* give hope and progress, by making the person go forward with their life at their own pace.
So I refuse to pin the hopes in a way that denies the lack of communication from the company proper about even ESTIMATED dates or date ranges.
Let's not get into the class/capstone suggested releases and the post degradation of the experts proving they are "right" making no additional reply from said developers except to mention something off the thread topic (whee, non-ranger bow strength when we're talking about the ranger's Master of Archery capstone.)
No I'm not cynical, just realistic on this one.
Since ONLY ONE petition has been effective, and Gary's memorial and Voice of the Master is the proof.
Let alone the third party issues Ron brought up mixed with proprietary issues (even if released on the planner only it may not follow the company's credo.)
Sorry, since it *IS* a good idea.
