alchemical armor ritual & DT armor

I finally finished my DT shroud and headed to the market to add my alchemical armor ritual.
I put my armor, 5 vials of pure water, and 15 prayer beads in the device and activated it, only to receive a failure warning. AFAIK, those were the only ingredients required. What am I doing wrong?

You have to do the binding ritual with Khyber shards first. Even though its bound already.
