I know lag happens in MMO's but pt 1 of the shroud is killing me. I have as good a computer as you can build - i975 with 6gb 1600 Ram and 4870x2 vid card. I play CoD4 and Fallout3 at maxed setting with zero issues. 1920 x 1200 on Dell 2400WFP with everything maxed in DDO with DX10 and stencil shadows turned off.

In shroud pt 1, by the end of the 1st or second portal, I get massive lag. I am still beating portals for 10 secs after everyone else has moved on. In pt 3, I sometimes get massive lag, sometimes not. I am still getting 36-52 frame rates during the lag, so I don' think its vid proc related.

It's like when a mass of people are swinging swords at one time I get the lag. Is there a post effect or shimmer effect that could be causing this? Is there something I can turn off?

I had the same issue on my old PC - Core2 X6800 with 2 GB ram and 8800GTX. I don't think it's my internet connection as I have AT&T 6.0 DSL and get great download upload rates.

I am at a loss and hope y'all can help.

I have a decent computer, and just started playing DDO again after a year of playing WoW. I could play WoW in 25man raids, while duel screening, and not have problems, in the Shroud here with my settings at Medium, and nothing on my other moniter sometimes it lags so BAD my moniters shut off temporarily.

My computer is not a great computer by any stretch of imagination and I don't get the lag. While guildy has a much superior computer than mine and get's same lag as you. Your more than likely looking at possible faulty hardware (router/modem), or your upload speed is not as good as you think.
