Error Message of Frustration +1

When trying to complete "finishing moves" I often get the error message stating "You have missed your special attack opportunity."

Why does that happen? How can I be missing the opportunity? Whenever I get the message, my "combo charge" is consumed, but no buffing effect or finishing move is granted. I haven't noticed any kind of trend that causes the message, but it is very frustrating to use my Ki to build up the combo then not be able to set it off and have to start all over again.

Is there some way to avoid getting that error?

You may not have enough Ki to do the finisher or you target is out of range

I can have a full Ki bar and this happens, and it happens when I'm doing the "buff" combos (Fire-Light-Fire) and those require no target. If there's no one else out there that gets the error, then maybe there is something hindering communication between my system and the game server...

It's lag. Your client and the server are out-of-sync. Your client thinks you're charged up, but the server doesn't. I've been out of combat, throwing my three punches so I can fire off a Healing Ki, and have to do four punches to get it to work...no confusion, no mayhem, no performing any of the myriad actions that reset your chains...I'm standing around doing nothing just charging up, and it takes four punches to get it loaded sometimes.

For what it's worth, I see this happen most often when you're firing off your punches RIGHT when the timer expires, there's lag there that gets things out of sync. If you wait an extra second it works reliably, though it's hard to do that in the heat of combat.
