In the compendium all the caster hirelings seem to have the same auto-combat-spell list, even the sorcs who are meant to have a limited spell set cast from a huge range of spells.
I'd much prefer it if they actually had the same number of spells they SHOULD have at their level, and the spells be personal to them and thematic as their "user selectable 4 spells".
They can carry wands thoughs so they can cast 1 or 2 spells semi ad-infinitum when they get low on mana.
ie. wand of acid blob, wand of sleep, etc minor spells.
A little bit of running away from mobs (running in circles at least) would also be nice when they get a bit of aggro. or at least a bit of "diplomacy" activation would go a long way to keeping them alive, even the occasional tumble or block.
