Using an exploit to beat asteroids is not really beating it, in my opinion.

Where I come from if you get to loot the big chest at the end.... it typically mean you completed the quest...

I think its safe to say that far more players have not compleated this than have. Khyber for the most part has little to no interest in this raid. I think its cool they managed 2 compleations in 2 days, which just might be a really big deal.

Being part of the party, I do not condone showing my accomplishments on the forums just for a lot of the reasons Vordax explained about it being pointless. However, I disagree that exploits were/need to be used to defeat the abbot. There are several ways to beat each puzzle and if you do not believe me then it might be a lack of experience on your part.

If you feel the need to be upset that you cant get a group to complete thats not our bad! just give kudos when a group of guys an gals works there #%$%# off to a common goal to beat that raid dude. On the nights of the completions (3 nights straight and counting), each one was on the second or third run of the night. Seems someone always screws up ice on the first run of the night.

i dont see why we should as we were first to workout an take down the reaver oh also the titan oh also dq!!!

but yeah no kudos there an i am always getting into groups tellin me how to run the quest when i know better than most how to take it down!!! same with titan same with dq!!!

this time i think other guilds should work it out for themselfs instead of getting free handouts!!!

the way i did it was pick up rock an smash the asteriods.

i will throw you a bone!!!......stand back to back an then just throw rocks that the asteroids a little pratice an you will get it.

What's it take to get a character Abbot ready from scratch? 2-6 weeks? Qwijy completed the quest for christ sake. He's as gimpy as they get.

The problem is some guilds want to keep info to themselves to stay at the top of the food chain.

But for some select ones, like my old guild, its about protecting the exploits they use for as long as possible. :)

You reckon the "effort" involved half of them pouring over the forums seeing what tactics worked and what didn't? I do. Those that can read probably relayed the tactics to those that can't.

If you're going to be the 47th guild (or whatever) to complete a raid that some guilds (albeit on other servers) have been running for a while and that some people have 20 completions up with already, then jump on the forums with "my Johnson is bigger than your Johnson" posts in response to some sincere congratulation, expect people to think you're something [edited pending completion of trades].

Of course, it maybe just be one idiot tarnishing the reputation of the guild. Maybe.

I think that you guys have taken down the abbot is an amazing and awesome accomplishment. there are detailed detailed guides out there about how to complete this quest with and without 'exploits' and the majority of people still can not do it. I have gone in there many many times some of those times with ppl in the party that have now accomplished the task, and every time we/I get creamed. I hate those &(*@()! asteroids gives me flashbacks to the arcade game in takeaway stores.
I would hope that if I ask those people they would be willing to give me a hand to learn how to do things better so I dont get tempted to go and beat my head against a wall and just ignore the quest. aka my present thoughts on abbot!
I would not want to see a persistent attitude however that states behold! we have created fire and you peons down there are not worthy of it... Ivory Towers are bad for you and give you cancer.
start up some guide raids, bring half er guys that know it well and show some people how you do it. change peoples perceptions to think wow these guys really know their stuff and are willing to give a hand. as opposed to my current feelings which are wow those guys know their stuff pity the toxic personality issues give me a gag reflex.

I stopped getting flagged for Litany of the Dead after the flagging mechanic made me depressed. So i have never been in there or the raid.

There are many things that Elite Raiders are known for in regard to raids, it is good to hear they are intent on completing them as intended.

Vitual achievements are great in a virtual world.

Some of these 'ER Pug VoD Raids' are some of the worst VoD raids I've been on.

I have much respect for you Strakeln, and I was there on one run where you single handedly (on Grumples) saved the raid from wiping when Harry a sliver of life left and you were being pounded by bats and rezzing people at the same time, but your fellow guild members aren't as good as they think they are.

Any time someone questions Cavern's ability as a player he crows 'Come into Tor with me'. Guess what? Tor is 2 years old my friend. Not much of an achievement in beating it. In his dreams he's as good as Oddlived, but in reality, he's not even close.

Lets not forget what Cavern's Loot Policy is either. Anyone remember that little gem?

I for one will not be joining you. I have respect for you and others involved with ER, but very little for the way that this round of victories has been handled in LFMs, party chat, and the forums.

What started out as an alleged pat on the back thread for completing a quest has been exposed as yet another example of "we are more uber than you peons". Sorry to burst your bubble bud, but completing a quest doesnt make you uber, treating the community in a decent manner instead of behaving like a total tool does.

Your memory appears hazy so i'll help you out. ER have no Game-First Raid kills and only have a server first kill in the Reaver (On Riedra). If your memory served you correctly you might remember the DQ was first killed by the LOCC on Riedra and the Titan was killed first by The Ashen.

They have pug raids because they don't have enough members to fill a raid. It's got nothing to do with charity or coaching.There is indeed benefit for both sides. I'd hesitate to say "charity" or "coaching", "inclusion" might be more appropriate. That said, your flame doesn't really make much sense... if you think raids are easier with 6 guild members and 6 pugs, you're sorely mistaken.


Some of these 'ER Pug VoD Raids' are some of the worst VoD raids I've been on.Well, the word "PUG" is in that title, right? While I'm sure you're aware of this, I'm more than willing to demonstrate how one sleeping/lazy/deaf/blind/afk/dumb/etc pug member can drag down the best of parties.


I have much respect for you Strakeln, and I was there on one run where you single handedly (on Grumples) saved the raid from wiping when Harry a sliver of life left and you were being pounded by bats and rezzing people at the same time, but your fellow guild members aren't as good as they think they are.While you're entitled to your opinion, I can't help but to disagree here. Slashh isn't exactly the most eloquent forum jockey, but his in-game abilities are indisputable... and yes, he really is as good as he thinks.

And to be completely fair, there was nothing single-handed about that raid save on Grumples. You can rez people all day, what matters most is knowing that the people you rez will be able to do something with it.


Any time someone questions Cavern's ability as a player he crows 'Come into Tor with me'. Guess what? Tor is 2 years old my friend. Not much of an achievement in beating it.I've got nothing here, you're right. Cav needs to find a new benchmark.

I for one will not be joining you. I have respect for you and others involved with ER, but very little for the way that this round of victories has been handled in LFMs, party chat, and the forums.Pyce (ER guild leader) has specifically instructed all guild members to "cool it" in regards to expressing pride. To see this in effect, consider that the guild is now up to 4 completions in 4 days, but the threads and LFMs stopped after day 2.

That said, I've heard some downright nasty statements being attributed to you. Considering how the guild received and attempted to include you upon your return to the game, I assumed that what I'd been hearing was nothing more than mis-interpretation. Your post here makes me wonder if that assumption is incorrect.

Being part of the party, I do not condone showing my accomplishments on the forums just for a lot of the reasons Vordax explained about it being pointless. However, I disagree that exploits were/need to be used to defeat the abbot. There are several ways to beat each puzzle and if you do not believe me then it might be a lack of experience on your part.

lol well thats cheesing it as XO of the guild that beat it first on the american servers when you had to do all the puzzles i can tell you the back to back method doesn't work as stated using flesh to stone on mummies does but is considered cheese.

Yes i have the experience in the quest to make that statment over 500 hours of practice floor tiles 90% of the time and ice 99.9% of the time completable asteroids has nothing to do with skill some asteroids are invisible or hit from below or something with easily over 5000 tries at the puzzle alone i speak from experience.


I've got no problem with people exploiting the broken raid just with people spouting their uberness because they can cheat.

Beating the abbot is an accomplishment with or without cheddar. If it is proven to be legit win, I'll be the first person in line with congratulations. Sorry but I see that as mastering the game twice....

I would characterize it more like he's been punished for poor behavior and then (presumably by being allowed to register a new account) rehabilitated to re-enter DDO society. I also think it's an immutable fact that it's poor behavior...per the final arbiters for DDO, Turbine.

I have a mixed opinion about the raid itself and how it's being done currently. I'm not sure it really fits in the exploit category anymore but it's hard to say. As for me, I've always viewed the Abbot equipment as optional...none of it seems to be a 'must have', unlike quite a few items from other raids.

That doesn't mean that I don't think items like the Quiver & the Circle as pure WIN and I see uses for 2 or 3 of the others...they're still optional, in my opinion.

I have no personal experiences with Cavern and have had very little interaction with him at all. I have nothing against him and i hope i will never have a bad experience with him in a group.

Reread my post mate, i NEVER once mentioned that i joined ER VoD raids. I recommend some reading comprehension lessons. I dont join ER groups AND if by rare chance i am in a group and someone from that guild joins the group, i think twice about dropping group depending on who else is in group etc. Until someone from that guild proves to me that their methods and behaviours have changed, then i and majority of the community will hold onto that opinion.

To coin a line from a movie "what you do in life reflects into eternity", same applies in game, only takes one instance to be tarred with a brush and a lot longer for the tar to wear off.

If patterns have changed, which i highly doubt, then i stand corrected, but as evidenced by various responses in this thread, no pattern change.

I dont join ER groups AND if by rare chance i am in a group and someone from that guild joins the group, i think twice about dropping group depending on who else is in group etc. Until someone from that guild proves to me that their methods and behaviours have changed, then i and majority of the community will hold onto that opinion.

If patterns have changed, which i highly doubt, then i stand corrected, but as evidenced by various responses in this thread, no pattern change.

C'mon, they're good raids. You have to be allow your character to be blinded in PVP before entering so you don't learn any of the secret completion methods, but they're fast runs so it's not too uncomfortable.

Well then why not show that when you address the guild... Addressing ER means you are saying it about even those you like, so leave your personal issues with select individuals and when you want to state something about them keep it to them. Also issues with members of the guilds is something we all see time to time in the Game is it necessary to smear it all over by hanging the dirty laundry up every chance you get?

Your memory appears hazy so i'll help you out. ER have no Game-First Raid kills and only have a server first kill in the Reaver (On Riedra). If your memory served you correctly you might remember the DQ was first killed by the LOCC on Riedra and the Titan was killed first by The Ashen.

Cavern has p!ssed his share of people of in his time but he's never actually hidden from that. He doesn't need to list his alts - everyone that's been on Khyber for a while knows him. The issues were mostly caused because he did NOT back down. He's certainly no coward on that front.

In fact, he's shown remarkable restraint in this thread with many people (me included) trolling while bored at work to try and get a reaction from him.

ER beat the raid. Grats to them. It's a damned hard task no matter how you do it and they deserve some praise. Good ole Cavern got on and had a bit of a brain fart in a response that was over the top and got a reaction.

It's pretty clear from the other ER posters that they don't want this sort of drama.
