View Full Version : Hate = DDO epic failure

There is so much nonsense going on right now (sad since most of the players are adults and have children no less!) that I think the community is going to flame this game into oblivion.

It may seem fun to be a "Telephone Gangsta" (shout out to Kracka) but the more people that quit and the more new people that see how the community gets along, the better chance the population will continue to dwindle and the game will shut down.

Please everyone stop and think about this.

You are all the best players, the most uber, the nicest, funniest, non cheese asteroid completing group of people I know. Now that this is all cleared up, let's play a game and behave like adults

I think everyone needs to cool down or else there won't be a game left to fight over.

Thanks

I think a good solution would be to make Khyber the only place where drama occurs. Block their forums to all but people who are on Khyber and are mailed a special access code in game. That way new players can't see how bad we are :)

I must miss a lot I suppose. I frequent the forums semi-regular and miss out on the drama. What did I miss this time that warranted this thread?

If there is drama I miss it also.

I just plod along.

I play with guild members or solo or PUG and I do not see much drama. If I run into a player that was not my play style, I avoid them. I also realize that my play style quite possibly annoys people.

I plod along and I do not have all the quests memorized. (But I am getting closer)

I actually find a lot of nice players that outweigh the not-so-nice players.

This has nothing to do with Dev-Player relationships and has everything to do with Player-Player relationships.
I'm not even saying that some fights are not worth fighting about but the public use of forums, the "MIC gangsta" yelling, and chat channel badgering is demoralizing.

I love to talk smack and have fun like the next guy or gal but the bitter and nasty tone of late is really starting to break us down when we should really be concerned about how to make the game better and encourage more people to want to join.

Would you all want to join after reading some of the forum posts of late? Be honest...

WOW, did you really just type that. Dude I played several other MMOs and once I felt the game was not for me I left no hard feelings. I love DDO and for the most part the developers in my opinion have done an excellent job, I have been playing for 3+ years now and going strong.

Because the developers have not compitulated to your damands for your quest of uberness is not a reason to make such string statements. If this game is consuming your life to the point where you treat people like that you may need to travel down the road.

I think it had to be tongue-in-cheek. Otherwise...wow, an out-of-the-blue gratuitous slap at the Developers in a thread about getting along.

Sure, in some instances hate can be a motivator.

Of course, on these forums, any hate directed at the devs just makes them less likely to post and interact with the community. They have stated this time and time again.

Want to have even less interaction with the devs? Hate away! Want change? Set your ego aside for a second and offer some constructive feeback without childish attacks.

Thankfully many people never bother with the forums and the ingame community is vastly of a different calibre then the whinny vocal minority we see post from time to time.

One of the refreshing things about this game (and I've never played another MMO so can't compare) is that the hyperbole and drama we read here on the forums is largely NOT reenacted by the players during actual gameplay. I see lots of disagreements on the forums and run with the same peeps in pug groups who have no problem with them in-game.

A good not-so-friendly competitive edge is all some of the hardcore guys have to keep them from taking extended leave.

Why don't you take your Barney time with your kids, and throw a jock on when you log in.

Ugly is fun.

The Vast majority of players do not get hung up or involved in forum drama or even read the forums. Nor would new players be swayed after reading a thread or two with the above mentioned decoration, they'll laugh.

Ugh...yet another "Let's hold hands" thread. Give it a rest people, why should I change my style of play into something that churns my stomach? Though admittingly, only about 20% of the playerbase and forum junkies just annoy me. Those that do, hell I tell them or squelch them. I'm going to POST and PLAY how I want. If you do not like it, simply squelch me, ignore me, or drop me from the group or post an intelligent argumentive speech on why I need to give you a **** hug. Regardless, me being myself, is not going to close all the servers anytime soon. Just deal with it and sprout a few chest hairs.

Fear leads to Anger.
Anger leads to Hatred.
And Hatred leads to the Dark Side.
But Dark Side Lightning isn't planned released until Mod 13 if not later, thus causing the ultimate failure of DDO!

Or something like that....

Yeah, I'm confused too. Are we failing now, or will we be failing....and if we wedgee the original poster, do we win or lose? :p

Well some of you clowns make my point. I appreciate that. I'm a combat Gulf War (the first one...) veteran. Telling me to toughen up makes me laugh as you could imagine... This is not about me since I play with all of you (even the ones who try to man up by telling others to do so...) and have no problem with any of you.

I never said hold hands, sing kumbaya, or any other nonsense you manned up, jock wearing, non Barney watching posters mentioned. The point is that there IS forum negativity and there IS in game negativity that will discourage old and new players alike. There is also too much Dev anger.

I just don't want the game to shut down. That is all.

Love the "Forum Gangsta's" who posted here. You kids make me laugh :-)

Memnir

Negativity on the forums = Mid-Mod Blues. And, after such a lack-luster year, content wise, like '08 was - the negativity was bound to get more than knee deep around here. Granted, it's getting kinda Lord of the Flies around here, but if Mod 9 is going to be as meaty as it seems like it will be, then things here will settle down again once it's released.

Level 1 FvS (Favored Searcher)

spell selection:

Raise Thread - Bring a thread back into the realm of the recently discussed threads, but contribute nothing of relevance (see level 5 spell "Poignancy" to contribute)

Date Fog - Hides the dates of posts. Duration: Until next forumite clicks.

Lesser Borestoration - Relieve boredom for a few moments; when this spell is cast it creates an attack of opportunity from anyone perusing the forums.

I agree. My barbarian keeps two-whacking monsters to half health as they run by and they still keep chasing the squishies in the back. It makes me want to take a couple levels of sorc just to get them to pay me the respect I deserve.

Wait, what are we talking about again?
