Alrighty, I'm ready to start doing some crafting stuff, but I'm still a little confused as to how to go about it. I've been told that goggles are the way to go for clerics, so I made a green steel pair. Where do I go from here? I downloaded a crafting planner, and I found some combinations I like....I'm assuming if it's not going to work, it won't show me a recipe for it, right (DDO Crafting Planner V2.3.2 is what I am using)? So, I can play around with the different tier effects until I find something I like, then hit create and follow the instructions? I've been looking at it kind of like a "crafting for dummies" type of deal, assuming it won't give me a recipe if I can't actually make what I'm looking at, but I thought I'd better confirm that before I waste ingredients on trying it (the whole focus, gem, essence combos having to be a certain way is what confuses me!!).
Also, does anyone have any recommendations on the best option for a cleric? I'm open to suggestions!!

Been through that and I still don't get it. I'm not willing to think I know what I'm doing and end up doing it wrong and wasting the time I spent collecting stuff. I simply want confirmation that the crafting planner I downloaded won't give me a recipe unless it's possible to create the different effects I've plugged into it.

this is one i have used. never a problem with it.
http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~delallea/ddo/shroud/index.php
and i use triple earth on my cleric for the 150 exceptional sp that stacks with all magi, archmagi, wizardry items.
nice thing about this planner is you can determine what ya want the item to do and just follow the recipe.

I'm planning HP/SP Smoke Giggles for my Cleric.
In order to get your working combination you need to find an equipment effect you desire at each tier. You can only choose one effect at each tier so 3 in total.
Just as you made your Greensteel blank each effect will list a focus, gem, and an essence that you need to craft in the Shroud at the appropriate Eldritch device using the appropriately sized ingredients.
Tier 1 - Small Ingredients, Small Power Cells, Shard of Power, Eldritch at part 1
Tier 2 - Medium Ingredients, Mediums Power Cells, Shard of Great Power, Eldritch at part 3
Tier 3 - Large Ingredients, High Energy Cells, Shard of Supreme Power, Eldritch at part 5
Once you have your 3 items at each tier made, you ned to go ahead and combine the 3 with a shard and then combine the shard with your blank to give it the upgrade.
Hope that helps and good luck!

I am also going triple earth on my cleric. For Tier I, I chose greater acid resistance. This may seem a bit odd, since the obvious choice is Wizardry VI. However, there are 2 other items I am interested in from the hound that will also grant Wizardry VI or VII.
This will help with annoying acid spells. Another choice I almost made was for the 10HP.
My Tier II and III will be for mana.
I also plan on making a weapon (kama) for 3 more wisdom. I haven't decided on tier I yet.

I have black dragon scale armor so I have the acid resist there. Until I check out the armor out in the refuge to see if it's worth switching out the dragon scale stuff for, I dunno how helpful that would be.

There are lots of options. My main goggles are +45 HP, +6 wisdom with concordant opposition (like this (http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~delallea/ddo/shroud/cgi-bin/shroud.cgi?item=goggles&weapon=weapon&effects=concordant_opposition_,iee_2_con&groups=plus_10_hp,plus_15_hp,plus_20_hp&altar=3)). But you can probably find many more options you may like.

Once you know what you want to make, personally I really like this website:

Every time I craft something, I use this website to know exactly what I will need o get the item done.
