I have a level 12/3/1 Fighter/Ranger/Barb whom I am using to run rare encounters in all explorer areas in an attempt to acquie every piece of named loot available in those areas (a way to challenge myself when groups are scarce).
My problem is I am finding it to be a bit expensive so I need to farm some loot.
In your opinion what is the most profitable loot run?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Shroud, no questions asked at all. Go to completion, sell any large ingredient you loot at the going rate.
If you are on timer for the Shroud, consider Aussircaex's Valley rares in a party (can be soloed, but solo is slow), or in a good party, Litany of the Dead normal (for a modest chance at valuable collectibles, but that quest requires flagging, can be duoed with a good Cleric or a great Arcane but faster with 4-6)

Vale if you looking for Sellable loot. 6 to 14k plat a run. I run my sorc. each run takes about 7 minutes. for a mellee class this may take a bit more. think it would be best to duo with sorc/wiz.
but once you have the pattern down you can potentially earn 50 to 80k plat an hour.

Monastery and Kobold are my 2 favorite loot runs at the moment.
5 chests in 20 min (between the 2 quests without completing), so roughly 15 chests an hour and they are level 17 quests.

Id say the Reaver Refuge explorer areas.
I get lots of loot in there and some of its very nice - Runes/Tomes/Weapons
So far ive gotten maybe 200 Draconis Runes a few tomes and
+5 ghost touch greataxe of pure good
+2 greataxe of smiting
3 or 4 Disruptors mostly ranged - Longbows/Repeaters and such
2 +1 vorpal bastard swords
+1 Weakening of enfeebling Khopesh
Just general stuff sometimes u get lucky and sometimes u dont
Each explorer area takes 5 min to do if you know what u are doing it is pretty nice
Good luck :D

For quick cash, I hit the Vale. I do a solo loop that starts with the named Earth Elemental, then hits Zakori, Lycomedes, Halphire, (skip the bats), The gnoll with the mephits, named gnoll #1, named gnoll #2 (Johannie?), Smaragdus, named cat (I call her Ophelia? lol), and finishes with Utheseen. I don't go for the named Raksasha, or any of the named on the west side of the vale. The spiders there see through stealth and it is less efficient for me for just 1-2 more chests. It's faster to recall after Utheseen and reset it if I want more.
This takes about 30 minutes (basically, two Planar Shard clicks with a shrine at the gnolls) but I'm slow. As a pure rogue, I don't have the defense to go toe-to-toe with hordes of mobs so I stealth past everything and then assassinate the names.
I used to skip the two gnolls because you can't stealth passed the trash mobs on the catwalks but now that I have a Rad II rapier, I slice through them like a hot knife through butter.
This quick run usually nets 8k - 12k plat. It's great when waiting on a group to form up. My guildmates always know where to find me :)
- If you have a sorcerer with you, you can rake in the cash in RR. The three areas can have three chests each and they're small. I don't think this areas is solo-able by a pure melee type but, again, I'm a rogue and if I can't assassinate it, I stealth passed it. The names here are all read so you can't stat-damage them to death. All the sorcs in my guild solo here for loot and I often tag along. The DPS I add while they run the rares through firewalls isn't critical, but it speeds the run up a LOT. We usually just run laps, starting in the mountain then doing the gardens then the valley.
- The Desert slayers are good if you're looking for a single hit item. The Dusk Hearts sell for 20k plat or so and the Bloodstone is very popular. Unfortunately, these are rare items and the rest of loot there is level 4 junk not worth the cost of a barkskin potion.
My guild, for whatever reason, isn't big on running quests for loot. We do slayer areas. However, last night we did run 4-5 laps through Offering of Blood and that seems like a very good, fast, easy loot run for small group. I pulled Spectral Gloves on the second chest. Go me!

7 minutes for a complete Vale run!?!?
Please don't mistake my amazement for disbelief, but I would love to see how you do this in 7 minutes. Could you please FRAP it and post it so we can watch your 7 minute loot run through the vale?
I'm thinking Haste, Shadow Walk and Ranger Speed Boost are all needed...?

I disagree, I think the damage you do compliments a Wall of Fire extremely well. The added bonus of the blindness you apply to the other mobs is even more beneficial since they have a hard enough time hitting me when the can see me! :D
Offering of Blood used to be a lot more intense before the respawn rates were toned down. The blanket immunities on Giants (ie, perma deathward) ruins one of the better weapons to be had from there; Ancient Vulkoorim Dagger: Giant Slayer: This weapon has a small chance to force a target Giant to make a Difficulty Check 25 Fortitude save or die instantly.

7 minutes is a fast run and would be minimal chests .. I run Strait to each named drop 3 or 4 fire walls. seems a good ratio for 1 to be a crit wall, mobs die in 15seconds or so .. run to next named 30 striders no haste is needed and generally only use 1 shrine. skip the devils side for the 2 named over there. and on averageI get around 5-6 chests. Ive Seen 7 minute finishes but Ive also seen 15 minute if you want an average we can say 11 minutes that would be allot of chest so probally a 8 to 10k run
So this would not be a complete vale run..just my way of the best run for the buck :)

Off topic but what do you mean by Planar Shard clicks? I'm hoping you mean you clicked one of the items you recieved by turning them in or I'm gonna feel stupid...

Dont forget the old, tired, worn out...but still viable...From Beyond the Grave.
3 people (2 casters/clerics with mean BB and someone else) can knock these out in 2 minutes (the quest dialogue says 1 minute but its really 1 minute and something seconds). Another 2 minutes to run back and reset. So a well practiced group can ransack in 40 minutes.
That's 20 chests and 10 end rewards in 40 minutes. 1 chest/reward per minute is not a bad rate of return. Figure 500 plat per chest/end reward, that's 15k plat in 40 minutes. The loot itself sucks, but its high enough to have a chance at pulling a low level WoP, W/E, or other worthwhile combos.
I love the new Explorer areas, and they can be very fast...BUT THE MOBS DONT ALWAYS SPAWN. That's why this old tired run in Delera's graveyard is still ok, albeit boring as watching paint dry.
Its not the best, but if your bored and feel like mindless quick looting with level 10s through 16s, it works...

I like monastery on my cleric, 5-7 minutes for several chests, wont bother with the boss if the puzzle is incompletable on first pass.
kobold is insanely easy, up until the end room, even my no ac barbarian can make it up to that point in the quest.
still run cursed crypt for the off chance of another DoD or choker, but aside from festival coins the rest of the loot in there is blah

You are in a similar situation to myself and a few of my guildies. You need a cheap
loot run with an emphasis on PROFIT so that you can have supplies to run the
bigger ones.
Because you are a melee class, it is bit harder to do some of loot runs that
sorcs, wizards, and clerics do without useing supplies.
This is my suggestion.
If you want to solo loot run, use a mage or cleric. If you don't have a mage or cleric,
join a loot run group with your melee. If you loot run in a group, you can definitely
hit the better areas.
In my humble opinion, when you are running low on funds, profit is the key. The
biggest way to make more profit is not to spend anything on the run. So, any area
that you can run without taking damage and not use potions is a good loot run for
a broke character.
The most profitable loot run is the one that you
can finish with the most money minus expenses. I believe this
is different for different classes, levels, and individuals.
Your individual loot run with the most profit is probably different than mine. However,
I think melee classes are better served looting in groups where there is someone
casting haste on the group. If not, it becomes a loot walk.......

Just sold a +3 Transmuting Greatsword of Greater Evil Outside Bane on the auction that grabbed in House D. Netted roughly 45% upswing on the cash.

Have to agree on the shroud.
If you're looking for plat, sell your large ingredients (just undercut the ones on the AH by a little bit). Not to mention the fact you'll be getting plat/sellable loot for the rest of the chests in there.

only chests, minimal expenses with decent return.

Ghola Fan - 8 minute completion range.
Royal Guard Mask - 750K plat range.
Stave of the Seer - 100K plat range.
Ransack 2 characters there a week, generate 1.1 million plat on average per week.
Works on Argonnessen at least. :D
