View Full Version : What's with Monk tooltips?

Why are the monk tooltips so vague?

Fast movement gives me no clue to the actual % increase or whether it stacks.

Slowfall doesn't give me the faintest idea of how much damage it will mitigate(and the first rank doesn't seem to do anything other then change your fall animation, and yes i know i have to turn it on)

Nothing in game seems to give much hint at all for how to trigger finishing moves. Or that interacting with anything resets the finishing move

Deflect arrows doesn't tell me how often it works or whether it is triggered before or after the attack roll.

Meditation doesn't say how long it lasts or how much ki it regenerates or if it's based on something like concentration or wisdom or something similar.

The stances don't tell you which stat they give a penalty to until after you've bought them. In fact i don't even think they tell you they give a stat bonus/penalty until after you've bought them.

Wind stance doesn't tell you how much it improves attack speed and what kind of bonus it is. The other stances are probably similarly vague, Sarlona's down so i cannot confirm.

Stunning Fist doesn't tell me it cannot be used when armed. Aren't monks supposed to be able to work an unarmed attack into their attack chain spontaneously?

Unarmed strike doesn't tell me what the die roll changes too.

And i'm only at level 6! I'm guessing this will just get worse later on.

I think these may well be the most uninformative tooltips in the game. Indeed outside of City of Heroes/Villians they may be the most uninformative tooltips i've seen in any PC game.

If any dev reads this please consider going back and making the tooltips give me some idea as to how the abilities actually work. I should not have to go outside the game to figure out how my abilities work.

And if any other players read this and want to enlighten me, that'd be great too.

Fast Movement is a 10% increase each time
Slow Fall is unkown to me
Finishing Moves are triggerd but 3 attacks of the same element in a row or element light element light being the FISTS OF LIGHT
Its believed that Deflect Arrows works to combine your reflex save and you AC and works every 3 shots but Im unsure of this.
Meditation is 35 ki, starting at +7 and working its way down some form of ticking ki generation. If you more then 0 ki then you may gain less the 35.
Unarmed strike is Di increase each feat.

But OMG you are so right. Since the release on Risia I have been trying to understand and build the right monk for my skill set and playstyle and I'll tell you its taken about 26 builds some of which have reached the cap. The tool tip is pretty useless I have a guildie cap his monk before he found out abundent leap was a clicky. The tool tips for monk feats really needs to be improved.
