(Thought it might be fun to do on a regular basis, but those that I've asked only had negative things to say about it.)
Would anyone be interested in and join an all lightning strike shroud group? (everyone in group with either a lightning strike weapon or guard)

I'm a little ticked off my friend...
I mean come on what's my nickname in guild??????? <no the other one>
malcis and bnarsfilth are aways down for one of those runs...and I might be a little bias but I think you should try to make ot at least 5 bow users w/ many shot ..... looks like it's getting cloudy out

If anyone decides to go crazy and start an all lightning strike shroud group I'll always be down to come along with my main. Clr14/Rgr2 - bow str, manyshot, lightning strike.
If not. I'll start one just for kicks and see if I can make it a regular thing.

Well.....by the time it reaches this stage it proc's fairly often. The majority still come from the dual wielding khopeshes. To put it in perspective...I have no problem soloing the round 4 Orthon on normal, hard or elite (although it takes me a few minutes on elite. On normal I have him down to 5% in 30 seconds or so, and get about 3 lightning strikes on avg. At that point I have to quit attacking with the khopeshes, and just hold him at 5% while the others are prepared elsewhere. Normally I can expect just a single strike while I'm blocking (I have had 3 go off fairly quickly and drop the Orthon to early a few times.) In a normal Arretrikos fight in round 5 I would estimate I get 5-8 strikes in before he is finished.
The Sorjek armor does make doing this a bit easier now, because you can free up so many slots by putting res, prot, etc all on your armor. Of course, there's places in the game where the strikes are useless (sorjek, etc.) so you have to commit to having another pair or two of Khopeshes as well (Earth, or Mineral II). So is it the best use of larges? Probably not, but it's a blast.

Other than lightning strike bows. Are any other lightning strike weapons worth using in the shroud?
On normal, the lightning strike damage is mildly better per-swing than beating dr, but only by about 2-3 points; on hard or elite, they're worthless in comparison.

Very likely true.......but still not as much fun!

On normal yes any lightnign strike 1 handers out damages a min2 for example buy about 2-3 points.....
FOr 2handed the loss of 15 per glancing blows makes them suboptimal to a min2 But would still beat an average, (+3), transumuter.
For bows with Silver arrows they are the WIN.
Above normal the DR on harry makes any old transmuter beat them in short order.

Again I'm sure your probably correct, but I'm interested in knowing how you arrive at that result. To make that blanket statement your ignoring a lot of information you don't have. To hit, str, equipment (ie bloodstone, etc), and others. If your using baseline numbers for an average shroud character (whatever that is) then the assertion that there is only a 2-3 point difference doesn't translate for characters above or below that baseline. How do you make the calculation that gives you that 2-3 point differential?
Thanks in advance.

if the average lightning strike is about 550, then means its an average of 5.5 damage a swing per every 1% of the time it hits. So if it procs 1 out of 100 attacks(which seems to be the concensus)<minII's slicing is 2.5 a hit> your getting less damage against anything with 3 or more DR....

I understand that basic formula, and an awful lot of folks are taking this 2-3 point difference as truth. I'm wondering where the proof in it lies. First, you have again not taken into account to hit, + to damage, weapon types, crit ranges, etc. There are some unknown statements here as well. Average lighting strike damage (again to what), DR, and of course the proc rate. I assume since so many people are using this 2-3 pt difference that somebody figured it out properly somewhere. Just wondering where that would be, and where your coming up with it. Again thanks.

If the two weapons are the same apart from one has slicing and transmuting, and the other gets the lightning strike, the lightning stike is doing an average of about 2.5-4 more a hit. And thats because neither strength nor crit range effects the proc rate.

hmm.. I would say mineral 2 is 2 points better on normal for a one hander, but irregardless they are about the same..

Sorry, OP, another off topic. I thought bows weren't working?
From the known issues list:
"# Greensteel bows are currently not properly applying blast effects."
So, the Lightning Strike isn't a "blast effect"?

correct. I still see the lightning strike go off I think the blast effect they are talking about is the third tier lightning blast effect that you get.

No Its not. Blast is the "On 20" Crit from the Tier 3 Effect (SHocking Blast, Acid Blast, Icy Blast ect etc etc.)
