The devs actually mentioned that they hope someone out of *all* their subscribers that one will find that ultra special gift. So, assuming DDO has about 100,000 subscribers, so the chance of getting a +4 tome may be 1 in 100,000, which means 0.0001 percent. The actual chance could be less, since each subscriber turns in more than one gold coin.

Guess someone has the mentality of a gambler. You would be better off at Las Vegas. :D 43% chance of winning actual cash.

Turned in approximately 11-1200 gold coins to date, not a single good thing, 2 dwarven throwers, 1 pop X, 2 stones of good luck and 5 brooches of shielding. Spent about 11 million plat so far.

Over 1600 coins now and between 15-16 million plat spent. Got 2 more sunblades to add to my collection though. I have been doing all of my turning in on one toon, just in case amount turned in actually matters, it does seem I average a random item(albeit a crappy one) every 100 coins or so. But I have like 400 of each of those nice gold coin cakes :)

I have turned in over 100 Gold Coins and have only been given the Brooch of Shielding as a random item so far. My guildy pulled a Dwarven Thrower in his first 5 GCs spent though. It is all a matter of luck, and I aint got any.

Tarrant or Eladrin (I forget which) has said there is not fixed number that will be given out.. it's just a very low-odds die roll.

When they mentioned that they "hoped" someone on one of the servers might pull one, I knew it was not high.

Rather than farming the coins, I am just running adventures and sending all of my coins to one character, and distributing them to my lower level toons to help them in tough spots.
