I recently sent a trial key to a friend and we spent a few days running around Korthos Island together. I have some feedback and some ideas.

1. The email he got had a link to an old installer. I had to mail him the link to the latest installer with the option for hires or lowres - otherwise he would have had to update for ages. Recommendation: make sure the email you send contains the latest link.

2. We found it hard to communicate in game. Turns out that trial accounts cannot send tells to real accounts - this was obviously added to stop platfarmers from sending tells, but I assumed that if I added him as a friend then he would be able to /tell me - wasn't so - the only way I could communicate with him was to join a party with him and use party chat or use /general or /say. If I was currently in another group/quest at the time he logged on to play it was very hard to communicate with him. Recommendation: make it so trial accounts can send tells to people who have the trial user on their friends list.

3. Korthos Island: he loves the quests but lamented the fact that he wasn't getting any shields as end rewards. Recommendation: add a named shield as an end reward for one of the quests.

4. He looked into buying the game, but couldn't find the pricing information - I told him I was on the 9.99a month special deal but that's not available to new players any more - and he couldn't find the information on pricing. Recommendation: when the trial is over have an automated system send him an email with a link to how to buy and pricing information.

That's all! Hope to have a new player on Sarlona soon - he liked the game :)

I agree, there should certainly be two Download buttons available (Standard and High Res), and they should both lead to the Mod8 versions, not the Mod7 Standard version that the single button currently offers you.

The friendlist /tell allowance is a must as well.

Shield would be nice, but certainly not a neccessity.

And there definately should be a 'Trial Over' Email sent with instructions and links for activation.

Personally, I'd add the following:

Improve the paths so they don't suck
Make the custom build icon more obvious.
Update the feat description to be more detailed and not misleading
Create a glossary easy to access from the character creation explaining the basis of D&D/DDO
Update your Compendium to contain useful information, especially the basic information (AC, ability score, etc.)
Find a way to inform new players of the existence of the Compendium.
Transform your Compendium in a real wiki.
