Yea I'm stupid..

sure am, tonight I did perhaps the most foolhardy thing ever! I was swapping my rapiers from my rogue over to my new ranger.. sent over two banishing rapiers, and a smiting rapier.

Decided not to organize all the weapons until I found myself another smiter, so alas I went to the AH found nothing within my price range there, then decided to head to the House D vendor and look around.

This is about the time I had my stupid moment, because after parusing the list I was apparently on my sell tab (It's the default fyi) and thought I was on the buy list, my stupid hand gravitates to the sell all button for some dumbself reason and POOF!! 5 million plat worth of rapiers vanishes into thin air.

Yes I know I know you could have bought them back, well on this toon I happen to be broke at the moment, and there were a number of people around the vendor..

Not singling you out, as the purchaser but one was a Free Companion (hell I was a Free Companion myself until the reformation when I decided to go back to Fallen Heroes with my sorc Nocx)

By the time I logged out and back in on my bard to buy my gear back it was gone all except for the +2 Silver Paralyzing Kama (by far the least worthy item of the ones lost..)

Not a plea, but if the person is out there and feeling like they got a steal, you did. If your feeling generous and want to sell them back to me I will buy them at the purchase cost that you obtained them from the vendor. Sorry I don't have 1.5 mill per rapier to pay you what they are actually worth.

If not and you wish to remain silent and enjoy the misfortune of an idiot that's fine too, I only hope that one day someone will repay you with kindness should you ever make the same mistake.

PS. Turbine, would it be too much to ask for a confirmation button before selling items to a Broker? doesn't have to be to all vendors, because a normal vendor you can buy your things back from, but brokers are for good.

FYI: The missing items are lvl 10 and one of the banishers was lvl 12 if I'm not mistaken (Banishing of Shattermantle lvl 12 Rapier) Don't remember the specifics of the other two.

That sure does suck mate, and yes confirmation button would be a nice thing, after all you get one when deleting mail.

Dont we ALREADY have a confirmation for selling? First you click on an item to put it in your "selling shoppingcart", then you click "sell". Not turbine's fault if you don't doublecheck to make sure you didnt sell anything good. A second confirmation would just lead to pleading for a third, fourth, fifth, etc. Until we are playing "Are you sure you want to sell that" and dragons.

Lithic is right. The confirmation - as well as a locking mechanism for items - is already there, and it is sufficient.

Your only hope is to plea to the community. You can probably count on one or two of the things coming back if you ask nicely :)

I'm not complaining that turbine doesn't have enough safeguards, I'm just making mention of a stupid mistake.

so that is why I found a +3 W/P rapier in the house D vendor a while back!

And I thought I had entered the Twilight zone!

But sorry to hear that that happened to ya!

I did a similar thing... while the buyback was out of commission, but fortunately only lost my pots, scrolls, wands and recently acquired loot...

Yea the silly thing is if I had sold them at a tavern on any random repair guy I could have bought them back, but since it was a Broker.. the new system does not allow buyback from a broker apparently.

You were never allowed to use the buyback from the broker. Because that could possably lead to coping of items.

For some reason my default is the buy button when before it was the sell button. I have purchased items thinking I was selling them. So I feel your pain. Specially when it totals 100,000 pp and you can't sell them back for what you had to pay for them either so it sucks either way. I try to be more careful when selling now.

Good luck on reaquiring some items back. Honestly though I don't think anyone should feel bad about buying the rapiers and keeping them. Depending on how rich the lucky people are though you may get lucky and buy them back. Though offering double the item value as payback would seem alot better than the persons purchase price, after all shouldn't we pay some what for our mistakes?

hmm....if this really happened to you, sorry to hear. however, sounds to me like a ploy to get some soft hearted fool to basically give these items away to you.

If it was a ploy, it was a pretty elaborate one. The OP had an LFM up about it last night for, oh I don't know, a long time. Strangely, when I saw the lfm I felt no pity -- we all do careless things from time to time, the custom is to be quietly shameful rather than announce it to the server in ALL CAPS. But reading your post now I have a lot of sympathy. Good luck!

an elaborate would have a much higher chance of success.

anyway, not accusing, just saying how it sounds to me, but then, i am rather cynical. if it did happen, it sucks, we've all done something like it before, and hope you can pull em again soon. at least now you'll be more careful.

OP: Sorry to hear that you lost some gear. However, before assuming that anybody who was in there at the time bought it, bear in mind that some of us leave a character in the shop when afk. This keeps more gear in the list as a semi public service to everyone on the server. Just because a character is standing there, doesn't mean he is necessarily spending 12 hours continually browsing the list...

Yep, I'm afk there for hours at a time. If I'm home DDO is up and running, but over 50% of the time I'm not actually at the computer.I've left the game on for like 40-50 hours at a time before, lol.

Yes, Yes, I'm not on Kyhber, Deal with it... I have a couple questions....

First, Why wuldnt you Lock High end Weapons as soon as you get them on a Character? and since one of the weapons.. THat you got back.. Wasnt even mentions, I t seem syou dont lock weapons you've had for a while even...

Why were you shopping the AH for a Smiter when you didnt even have enough money on the character to buy one off the Broker?

2 Banishing Rapiers and a Banishing Smiter is pretty far from 5 Mil Plat in value.... 5 Million Gold each. maybe..... Did you have Nothing in your Inventory locked?

I feel for ya dude.. I've hit the Sell All before.... Luckily, I do have a habbit of locking everything I use so I just lost about 100k plat or so in COnsumables..... (Including about a Dozen Major Mana Pots.. that killed me..... ) ANd yes, it was Pre Buyback tab..

Viz heard the same responses from myself and other guildies... I know you're bringing it up as advice but like all accidents is just a reflection of level of caution. I remember selling off a fragment of the silver flame to the Everful's barkeep way back when that item was useful, I had moved it over from another girl to a girl who had just reached a lvl to use it... back then there were no lock downs and it got bundled with a pile of gems. Oh course not the same as Antz' rapiers here but still some silly thing to happen... felt both disappointed and for lack of a better word (stupid) ... Is really nothing stupid about it ... is just slight neglect - still you kind of feel a loss, quite silly to feel so over a few pixels and quantitive data... yet still you feel down.

Anyway... if anyone does happen along Antz gear pls send him a tell or myself and I think I can compensate ones kindness...

You know this is unforunate. However when the game first came out you did not have the locking, sell listing, and double clicking we have today. We did not have the buy back option either. Think of it this way. If you thought you were on the buy then you were looking for a steal. You jumped at the chance to buy what you thought was cheap gear that some noob put up not knowing what they had. Anyone who bought these items were in the same mind set as you were. Though unforunate better to just let it go and start farming. I have sold tons of stuff including a tomb by accident once :P. Talk about stupid

Yeah the market is all haywire now. They go for 500-600k plat each. No one buys those outrageous ones on the AH. It does suck though. I've vendored Bloodstones and lots of good stuff back in the day, but now I don't sell at the brokers I use regular vendors so I can buy back. Less money but you can screw up and get it back with buyback

like i said, i'm suspicious, but if it happened, i feel your pain and am sorry you lost so much. i've been playing about 2 years now and have never acquired any of those. the best i've gotten are 1 +5 puncturing rapier (which i've lost) and 1 weakening rapier of puncturing that i just pulled yesterday.
