Death by Mouse, pls help

My UI defaults are causing problems.

Whenever I mouse over onto a clickie in my bars, it overrides my attack [using stick and mouse]. So I end up standing there in the middle of melee looking like an idiot before I realize I have to move the mouse cursor off the bars so I can attack. I TRY to remember to move the mouse cursor back to the screen after using clickies, but its hard, esp when I'm in combat and the adrenaline is pumping.

Anyway to fix this? I tried changing the attack key from "right mouse" to a letter on the keyboard. Same problem.

/added - same issue if the mouse cursor is left in any window - chat, examine, map, etc.

Yes that's a problem. It's one you won't have if you use the "hold-left-mouse button" mouse-look mode to move around. That's what I do, so I'm pretty much always in mouse-look while attacking, and I don't have this UI issue.
I'm not sure how to fix it in your situation though.

hotkey more than one bar so you need to hover over clickies less

also, in time you will develop the habit of clicking and moving your cursor back

this drove me nuts at first too, but there is not any way but autoattack to keep swinging when your cursor is over a hotbar. none.
