Hello,

A quick question for a GM.

Last month I build myself a new PC and loaded DDO on it from the game disks I bought when the game first came out.

Now that my new PC is ready to be used, I'm planning on giving my brother my old computer. About 6 months ago, I invited my brother too try out DDO and he liked the game enough to stick around and has a current subscription, although it seems that ALL of his DDO game files were down loaded from the DDO servers.

What my question is for the GM'S, am I or he going to run into any problems with the GM's if both machines are logged on and are using the same game files from my original DDO disk?

I'd just as soon not get into hot water over this, but to me it seems like such a waste of time and effort to have to delete the DDO file off my old PC and have my brother go right back on line to the DDO servers and reload the same game files.

An answer to this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steejan.

Geezes,.... a simple yes or no answer would be great or even a simple response via a private message would be suffiecient.

Thanks

Well, I'm not a gm, but I have slept in a holiday inn before...

No, the game files are independent from the accounts being used. You can use the same exact game cd's to the game in many different computers, and as long as they all have an active subscription, you'll be able to play just fine.

The game "keys" that come with the cd/dvd are for the account logins, not the actual game install like a lot of other non-mmo games are.

Another point you might not be aware of.. When installing ddo on a new computer, you can:
1. Copy all of the .dat files from the ddo folder on the existing computer
2. Install the game from the cd/dvd onto the new computer.
3. paste the .dat files into the ddo folder on the new computer
4. start game up.. it'll still need to patch the launcher, and verify files, but the update should only take about 15 minutes.

I am not a GM, so you can't take my response as gospel.

I have two accounts, and I use the same installation for both accounts (I do not own the DVD, I downloaded the game online both times using the same account information both times).

I run both accounts at the same time every night. I have never encountered a problem, nor have I ever been contacted by any Turbine representative about it.

As I understand it, so long as you have two separate accounts, it does not matter. I think this is further shown by a couple other things:
- You cannot play the game without a subscription (or trial sub)
- You can download and install the game for free (this is the big one)

Hey fellow DDO bros, thanks for your replys!

I kind of thought it would not be a problem but I wanted to get some more input on this before the time came and we logged on using the same disk files. In my book, its better to be safe then sorry. ;)
