Video cards are the last thing in the world that I really want to understand...
would a GeForce 9500 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500071)push the game well at 1600x1200?
this would be using DirectX 10

Yes it would... i only have a nvidia geforce 7100 that has only 256 mb of video memory and i can run it on the highest resolution for my monitor, i dont know what it is right now( 19") on low graphics with the settings on anistrophic and high detail. you might not beable to do ultra high with the higerst resolution but it will be able to handle pretty good graphics

what are the other specs on your rig?
I am using a geForce 7900 card, no where near yours, but because I have a good system all around:
dual-core 2.4 gig Athlon,
dual SLI Gigabyte Mbo,
4 gigs of RAM,
880 watt power supply
and my graphics are set to the highest detail (but i keep the the super high features off, like specular lighting, and ray-trace shadows off) I run anywhere from 50 FPS to 190+ FPS.
you will be fine if you have a power supply beefy enough to push it.

well it's a hypothetical I'm thinking of building, ideally a shoebox that is on the quiet side.
worried about only 585W power supply cant seem to find specs on what the video card requires.
looks like it's on my door with no OS for 383.07 all newegg.
by all means let me know your thoughts

If you plan on any real serious gaming, I wouldn't go with the 9500gt. You can get the 9600gt for another $15-$20 or so, and you'll get double the performance in most games, particularly at the resolutions you are looking at. Here's a review that shows the difference between the a 9500GT and a 9600GT at varying resolutions: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Galaxy/GeForce_9500_GT_Overclocked/1.html This review covers a card from a different manufacturer, but the specs are roughly the same.
If noise is the primary concern, then that card may be decent. However, if gaming will be the primary purpose, I wouldn't skimp on the card to cut down on the noise.

With Micro ATX format you may not have room in the box for the vid card, better check that...

double-check and make sure the northbridge on your moBo is Nvidia geared, and not ATI.
Since you are going with GeForce, that could cause headaches, especially if you plan on going dual cards.
It looks like you are getting a good deal on teh box and power supply combo, but you might be better off buying them seperate. You can get a good deal if you just want a basic box, and spend a few dollars more on a power supply.
power supplies are a major consideration in building a performance box like you want. dont' go super-cheap. I wouldn't consider anything below 600W, and if you plan on upgrading to dual-cards, you gotta get higher than that. 900+ i would spec for.
DDO however, is not a top-end graphics intense game, you dont have to go nuts. liek I said, I'm running my old (OLD) 7900 GeForce, and it is doing 50-190 FPS, and I honestly have no reason to go bigger at this time, or even dual-cards.
I'd just make sure if you are using Nvidia cards, stick with Nvidia geared boards. I made that mistake one time, and $400 later made the correct choice. (My wife has my old quad-core and ATI board now :P she's happy)

I run at 2560x1600 with most settings cranked (including DX10) on 2x8800GT's. Since that's a little over 2x the pixels you're looking at (4.3 million vs 1.9 million) and about 1.7x the card, I'd say you'd be perfectly fine with the 9500GT.

I picked up a EVGA 640-P2-N821-RX GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130413)at $100 maybe not ideal but I own it now...
Now for aquiring the other odds and ends
