I have experience everything there. I think Hirlings is a step in the right direction for people like me who enjoy soloing or dont have time to be on all night to run chain quests.

sounds like DDO on normal for me. Although it's not as often as having a competent or resonable group that makes it through the quest. lately I've been haven't great luck in PUGs. Personally, I am very excited about Hirelings. I play in a static 3 person group that plays once a week. We're a fighter, Cleric, and Wizard, we're all lvl 8 right now. there are certain quests we simply cannot do either for lack of a rogue or not enough meat shields to do something like Gwylens or Stormcleave so for our static group Hirelings could be great!

yep. at least with hirelings they keep in pace with ya. now if only the devs would institute the leadership feat to let us have more than one going at a time.

1.have you ever waited on a cleric for so long to do a off beat quest the party breaks due to no healage?\
Nope. I'm usually the cleric. Or able to heal a party well enough.
2.have you ever tried to loot run a quest and be forced to wait 15 to 20 minutes between quest when its a 10 minute loot run?
I dislike loot runs, so no.
3.have you ever tried to pug a chain quest and hear sorry i got to go halfway in the chain?
Yes. And we continue on. Just a bit more careful.
4. have you ever tired to raise a toon when all your friends are capped?
I'll cap when I get there. I had to level grind ONCE. Never again. It isn't that important. As for my friends, real friends would make toons to run with me.
5.have you ever farmed solo area when your not a tank and nokone wants to help you?
Yes. Again, farming isn't my forte but I don't worry about it.

I don't agree with you at all, but my hubby thinks its great. SO they can come. But not in my parties. I have ran into many problems and I have learned to overcome them with diligance, perserverance, and intellignece. However, you are getting your little NPCs and I lose. Have fun.

Anyone know the name of the Aussie programme that was on years ago with kids in a wierd lighthouse?
The theme tune was "Have you ever, ever felt like this? How strange things happen, are you going round the twist"
Might have been called Round the Twist, just not sure though.

So far, the biggest thing I've seen with the hirelings is the fact that of the three times I used them yesterday, all three of them stood in the middle of a fire trap until they died. Even when I called them to me, they stood still until death...

Well, if you have endless time to sit around while a group forms for a quest that isn't STK, Stormcleave, Gwylens, one in the gianthold, etc.. AKA the very popular ones, the hirelings are pointless. However, if you have limited time maybe on other person and want to get a quick quest in or just not have to wait around for 30mins, then hirelings could be interesting. They aren't going to replace real players, you can't overcome a the mobs in a quest like Gwylans with a fighter, a wizard, and wiley ways, with a couple of hirelings you might stand a chance. Everyone wins with halflings, especially if more people play.

That's you, not me. Again, I am not fighting it, but I will not use them. I prefer McGyvering. It's worked for 2 and a half years of straight PuGs.

Yeah, I havent used em, but I know what AI in any game, any setting, any product is like...and its just not...useful...
Would rather just forego the hassle.

1.have you ever waited on a cleric for so long to do a off beat quest the party breaks due to no healage?\
Nope. I'm either the cleric, or.. Dun DUn DUn!!!!!! We go without a cleric and heal ourselves!
2.have you ever tried to loot run a quest and be forced to wait 15 to 20 minutes between quest when its a 10 minute loot run?
Sure.. THat happens all the time. Doesnt matter what the party makeup is.
3.have you ever tried to pug a chain quest and hear sorry i got to go halfway in the chain? Yes, we usualy just continue without the 6th person and put up an LFM "In Progress"
4. have you ever tired to raise a toon when all your friends are capped? Yes. Its not as Fast to level, but its very doable.
5.have you ever farmed solo area when your not a tank and nokone wants to help you? Yup. My Clerics, Wizard and rogue all solo the explorer areas reguarly.

1.have you ever waited on a cleric for so long to do a off beat quest the party breaks due to no healage?
Nope. If I'm leading, I usually start solo and let the party fill as it does. If I'm not leading (unless I know the person), the first thing I say is, "Are we starting now?" and if the answer is "Let's wait for the party to fill." I usually drop and do my own thing. Sorry but my gaming time is limited.
2.have you ever tried to loot run a quest and be forced to wait 15 to 20 minutes between quest when its a 10 minute loot run?
No. See #1.
3.have you ever tried to pug a chain quest and hear sorry i got to go halfway in the chain?
Yes, and while slightly annoying it is to be expected. Remember all those people playing with you have their own lives and cannot be expected to be able to play exactly when you can. What is far more irritating is having someone go afk or just drop without saying anything in a chain quest.
4. have you ever tired to raise a toon when all your friends are capped?
Yes and no. I currently have 8 characters ranging from L3 to L15. While I can (and have) power levelled a character (and experienced what you are talking about), it's just not important for me anymore.
With 7 capped characters I have plenty of high levels to do raids and stuff with, and with my non-capped characters I always have one within range when my friends ask me to help them level a lowbie.
5.have you ever farmed solo area when your not a tank and nokone wants to help you?
All the time and I don't ask for help. See point #1.
RE: Hirelings
Even with all of the above I like the idea of hirelings. Unfortunately my game time has been seriously limited lately so I haven't had a chance to play with them - so I cannot say whether I like the implementation. Only time and effort will tell.
