+4 tomes are not in yet, those are coming for mod 9 :)

I would love to know how you choose which threads to respond to Tolero. Such randomness hasn't been seen since my full plate (rr WF).

Good to hear about the +4 tomes though...I had personally assumed lvl 20 would introduce +5s.

It really isn't so random.

1. the post and consequent posters are not whiney, compliany, but asking in earnest without a demanding nature.
2. the question asked is not one that has been previously asked to ad naseum.
3. it is in details she is allowed to release at this time.
4. she has the time to make a post.

The problem she has in responding is the first part as while the OP may be polite, but later posters are not, good luck in getting a response.

If she finds that condition one and two are met, more than likely she'll try to be certain that 3 and 4 can be met by her end somehow, even if that means pestering devs.

Yes I know GH is a good area I was being somewhat sarcastic but seriously tomes for me anyway are a rare drop so any information on "farming" areas with a high percentage of drops would be cool.

If you want +1's, run the orchard explorer area. Never seen so many. They dropped a ton when that was a decent loot run when you had 10/15 min. by yourself, and when I went back in there to farm gems, pulled 3 or so more.

That being said, are you looking for any in particular?

Given the diuretic properties of Ghallanda potions and population levels, I'd say the rear corners of Meridia and several trees in the Vale then.

Devils on hard. Three chests, end reward so bunch of chances-and soloable. If you look at the long time platfarmers locations (funny how everyone knows who they are and yet they haven't been banned) they are always in the Aurim Lair. The new encounter areas drop +2 tomes too.

I've pulled 5 +1 tomes in the same day just soloing raiyum (normal) on my sorc/cleric. Mostly end rewards.

Getting a stockpile of +2 tomes really just dependent on getting a high volume of chests (rated in level 17 or higher places) and/or end rewards in a short time frame with luck mixed in. So far I have found the new module 8 quest Monastery of the Scorpion to be fast and soloable, resulting in 3 or 4 chests and an end reward in about 10-20 minutes. Monastery of the Scorpion also has a relatively short run to the quest with a safe shrine outside which makes it convenient as well for running several times in a row.

Nope not looking for anything really was just thinking how I can't even pull a +1 let alone farm for +2.

I think it just depends on the person. I've been playing since just after release, and I've only pulled 3 or 4 +1 tomes, and no +2 or +3. Apparently my characters don't have the right loot flag.

theoreticly, the new explorer areas should be best if you can solo them. Especially mount reysalon. I run through there in literally 5-6 mins and get 1-3 chests. Gardens is easy for me to solo as well but takes slightly longer about 10mins but I have never gotten all 3 rares to spawn there.

However, I still haven't actually heard of anyone pulling a +2 tome out of these chests since it mod8 was released. People claimed to have pulled them on Risia. I've personally looted about 150 chests in these 2 areas and seen closer to 500 looted (other members in the party) and not a single tome.

On the other hand...I've pulled 8 +2 tomes outta Shroud in the last 3 months...

Pulled a +2 Dex Tome from the Gardens ( Lion encounter ) , but it is the only one I've seen so far.

I have not been "farming" the new areas per se but have seen 3 (three) +2 tomes drop for guildies or others in group getting the gems for flagging. One in the mountain area by the named WF, one in the Winter area at the named Dog, and one in the monastary area, where the skeleton ambush/ quell spawn close to the beholder.

This is over about 30-40 runs I woud say.

Hope this helps, oh, and +1 tomes, I personally have looted about 10 +1 tomes from the orchard rare encounters, however from the recent runs since the latest update I think the base value of items in the orchard was dropped and have pulled no tomes. The items i pull now are often lvl 7 and not lvl 11. Have seen about 4 +1 tomes drop in the desert but that is over a period of 2 years.

I have personally pulled at least 10 +1 tomes from giant hold quests.

An about 8 +2's tomes from the shroud/ vale end rewards / hound end reward.

I've pulled more tomes than I have holes. Actually, I've pulled more +2 tomes (less than 5) than I have ever pulled holes. Good thing I'm married. :)

I hear ya brother. I have only looted +1 tomes. I have had 2 +2s given to me by a guildie who was character capped and had extras. No +3s ever. I do luck out on some other loot. I pulled a chattering ring my very first Titan completion. That made everyone groan.

I have pulled 3 +2 tomes in the last 5 days (1 +2 wis, 1 + 2 cha and 1 +2 int) all from the new Mod 8 quests/end rewards....

Vale end rewards are good too...

I'd suggest the following, assuming you are capped. Where I specify difficulty, doing the quest harder than stated is also fine:

+1 tomes - don't farm these, farm endgame content especially the Shroud, sell your loot, and buy +1 tomes on the AH. (You will usually find some of these levelling, usually Tempest's Spine Elite is the #1 spot, #2 being end rewards for Gianthold quests).

+2 tomes - Running with the Devils Hard, Shroud normal, Monastery of the Scorpion normal, Aussircaex's Valley explorer zone rare chests, Subterrane explorer zone rare chests (i.e. Garamol)

+3 tomes - only exist as extremely rare, binds-on-acquire pulls from level 14 and higher raids. Best spot without a doubt is 20th Shroud completion rewards table - this seems to average 1.5 +3 tomes, other 20th tables seem to average 0.5 tomes.


Oh, and I've seen someone (was in my group but wasn't me :( ) pull 3 +2 tomes in one Shroud run. One in each part 1 chest, one in the part 3 non-underwater ingredients chest.

Apparently braking ice sculptures in Prey on the Hunter (the giants vs. white dragon quest) is a good way to find +2 tomes.

Farm the new outdoor areas. fast runs and +2 tomes drop quite a bit. the other loot is good and you get runes also. best bang for the time right now.

It seems since Mod 9 that the 2 best places that drop +2 Tomes just arent dropping anymore, ( Vale and Eerie Forest, Atleast for me ) Did the drop rate drop with the new mod or update?

Since Mod 10, there's no question: Inspired Quarter quests.

All are quick, some like Mindsunder ridiculously so, and all have multiple chests with end rewards.
