And well I have a few questions.

1.) Did human male avatars get debuffed. It could be just me, but they seem lankier/less muscular.

2.) Are there known issues with sound after mod 8? I -sometimes- here the whoosh of my weapon swing, but only on the first swing. I also no longer hear traps or the deactitivation of them. Spells... sometimes I hear them sometimes not. Everthing worked great pre-mod8 for me.

3. Can the newbie area be bypassed? I understand its there to train new players, but for me -yawn- it was boring. I'd rather run the gooblades all morning then be told how to swing a weapon, or swim. yeah the old newbie quest was short and too the point, but that was a plus for folks making it through it for the 50th time.

4.) This maybe related to question one. Did something change with screen resolution? I play on a 22" wide screen and always thought it looked pretty good @ 1680 x 1050, but now everything looked stretched.

I have played since ddo was released and never have had any issues after an update and now i seem to see several. the sound being the worst imo. Could someone shed some light on some of these issues?

well I found that the audio settings had the sound effects turned all the way up after mod8 which made my sound mix kind of wierd until I realized what was going on. I would do a quick check all your settings sound and graphics just to be sure that they didn't change after the mod update. Also, if you are running vista and DX10 there are apparently some graphics cards that don't play nice. Some has posted a list of about 10 or so cards and I think it's in the known issues or release notes perhaps. good luck!

I agree with you D. The first time I made a new character it was novel to check out the sort-of-new quests on Korthos. I say sort-of-new because each of them is based on the previously developed adventures in Stormreach. But, after going through a few of them, I wanted to get back to Stormreach. I hope there will be a way to bypass the newbie area. I couldn't find one. In fact, there was a bug, so I could not even use the captain and first mate to get me to Stormreach. I had to fill out a DM Ticket and then the DM teleported me to Stormreach.

Cheers.

1.) Hadn't noticed...are you talking XP or Vista?

2.) Seems like after the patch all the sound setting were maxed. Also had some people I know complaining of a "hollow" sound to voices. Apparently just some minor tweaking of setting fixed this.

3.) I think I had read/heard that if you complete the new beginner area on one toon, you can then bypass it on other toons, but I have no confirmation of this.

4.) Again, XP or Vista? I play at that resolution and noticed no change after patch on an XP box.

I found my Sfx turned way up after got mod8 too plus it seems that the placement of the sfx don't match my speakers anymore. For example, I see my char hitting a creature in front of me but only hear the reverb from those hits. If I turn 90 degrees I then hear the hits out of my speakers. I haven't changed anything so was wondering about sound problems with new mod. I hear alot of reverb when in the dungeon too.

Ideas? Thanks.

Thank you for the replys. I play using windows XP so the DX10/vista problems shouldn't effect me. Also I am using a Geforce 8600GT (256) vid card and if I remember correctly that wasn't a card listed as having problems, besides as I said before it played flawlessly before mod 8 maxing at about 115 fps and bottoming out in the 30's.

Just curious on when you last updated your VC driver...it possible that even though the DX10 changes don't affect us, perhaps some other changes may have. Also, i'm always big on updating drivers frequently.

Maybe update the drivers on the VC and then do the auto detect on the settings again. Or check the settings anyway...since the audio settings seem to have changed, see if the video also changed.

Or...if you wear glasses....maybe time to clean em? :p (Sorry, couldn't resist)
