I have a couple of these promising weapons already. Any ideas on what you can put on them and how you do it?

don't think so,

although..... just read the description again and maybe there is some so far unknown use for them....

Thought the same thing. I wouldnt put it past turbine to just have a lame drop like that. But it does seem to be more to the story.I tried it in the eldritch device with a small upgrade it didnt work.

Well, a guildie pointed something out to me that I glossed over after seeing "Masterwork" in the description:

"A long, thin, slightly rusted sword with a fine point. It appears to be encrusted with small chunks of an unknown material."

Could be that this may deconstuct into something in the future...

Try using Toothpick on the named Ice Giant in Prey on the Hunter maybe? Kaljorn or W/e his name is, he has DR.

Nope. The "unknown material" is what the dragon picked out of his teeth when the LAST band of adventurers stopped by for dinner.

My vote is that it is what it is - something to get through Sorjak's shield if you have nothing better (unlikely) or even try (silly).

I would be plesantly surprised if it is anything more. Of course if its add Tasty Ham and it becomes a WoP Rapier - maybe not so pleasant.

Doesn't do didly against Sorjak to what I've seen. Didn't bother to go at him with it more than at the begining though.

My thoughts too, but I'm more thinking it will be "discovered" either in Mod 9(with the level increases and raids, and maybe crafting onto items like this one) or Mod 10 (the search for more relevant content).
