They make money because people place items on the AH for insane amounts of platinum.

Do people think everyone who plays has 4 level 16 toons or something?

I see level 2 swords for 1000+ plat, level 4 for 7000+ plat.

There really needs to be some kinda limit or restriction on prices on the AH or something.

Yeah, yeah. I can go to the one place in market and look, but it's never anything good.

So, I see how plat farmers make their money from the DDO customers.

People gotta buy the plat, just to afford the items in the AH.

So next time you get mad at plat farmer spam, go to your AH and look at the outrageous prices.

Hell after looking at the AH when I first re-joined DDO. I almost quit again.

Good lvl level 2 and 4 items are considered "tweek" items and therefor more valuable.
Notice that the prices on higher level items drop drasstically.

On a diferent note, economy is a funny thing, and it's only reasonable that people will try to get the most for what they are selling. It's called capitalism. :D

Do plat farmers have impact on that? Obviously.
Is it good? Probably not.

But from the sellers point of view (and i am no exception): "Why do i need to be the only sucker who sells for less?"

And btw, if you put some kind of price management on the AH people will just move their buissines to the forums.
E.g. w/p rapier. On AH you can get 2mil plat tops (that's the limit), on the forums it sells for around 10mil plat...

LOL, I afford stuff off the AH from playing since the beginning almost 3 years ago, and questing.

I felt the same way.

To make money you have to sell stuff on the AH yourself. You cannot make it just from questing. You get a +2 densewood heavy repeating cross bow (just an example now HUSH) for example and you cannot use it then sell it. I always try to underprice the market because your right about how STUPID some peoples prices can be LOL.

Go into the rusty nail on the weekend and check all the vendors. It appears to me that they restock on the weekend for some special items. Don't just look for stuff you can use. If you don't find anything for yourself then look for other peoples stuff.

Now that they have changed how the AH works (or at least thats what I have been told) so that you cannot cancel an auction at the last minute if there is a bid on it I look for stuff that is near the end of its auction time. I am not going to name exact gear but last week I found a piece that was 3 hours from the dead line at 2am CST that I got for a 20K GOLD bid. Every single other piece including it was 100K gold or higher buy out. I am so glad I work nights:).

That same night I placed what I felt was a good twink mace up for sell for what I felt was a reasonable opening bid and buy out. It was purchased less than 2 hours later for 80K gold. That for my lowbie arse was a good night. Not all nights are good. Many nights I walk away with nothing. Be patiant and vigilant and you will come out on top.
