OK, I hear all the whiners ranting on the Reaver. So I broke out my super necro build cleric out to see what all the fuss was about.
Now I was able cast prayer, doom and curse on them with little problem, thus lowering their saves by 7.
After debuffing I attempted to cast destruction(fort) and banishment(will). This was on my cleric that:
casting a lvl 7 spell
has 34 wis
have 2 feats in necro spell focus
have the napkin equiped
bard spellsong bonus
dc = 10 +7 +12 +2 +1 +1 = 33
if you add in the debuff, it is a virtual 40. This would put there save >60
I did land 1 destruction in about 40-50, I assume that a natural 1 they still fail.
I did not land any banishments, which acording to the pop-up has a harder save.. but I always had a difficult time with banishment compared with destruction.
I belive in making it harder, but.. well.. just add me to the whiner list.

Monsters receive an extra bonus against Banishment equal to their HD, just like the caster gets a DC bonus equal to her level. An elemental traditionally has HD = CR * 2, so if they're CR 26 they'd have a +52 save bonus...
Demons and devils have HD = CR, maybe +/- 2, so a CR 26 devil wouldn't have nearly as good saves.

I guess this makes the Firewalls by Dance Orbs (With Mind Fog) all the more viable of an option. No more piking for the fighters, break out them wounders! :p Or cursespewers...might work :)

Fod/pk bot to ottos/fw/acid bot? One caster with a charge can probably handle it.

I kow a caster soloed it yesterday on Ghallandra on elite ....... Bah to the whiners, get over it :)

Substract HD from banish DC and youre right much lower on the actual spell save than the Destruction.

We just cast max/emp firewalls in the dancing balls...with a little side of acid fog for fun. Did the trick, no problem. I threw in a few cloudkills, but that really was more because its on my spellbar and I never use it.
In another run, enervate was being spammed by another caster. After a while I could finger them with mine.
I like the change...gives me something to do besides hitting finger over and over. I personally think they should have added a few golem's in their so the melee's could do their thing too...
If they got rid of the ability to get a charge...now that would make it interesting!

Couldn't agree more, it's just too boring to be a melee in there :(
As an only option I always sneak in for a few uncalled charges and try to get just 1-2 kills from the casters ;)

Our tank kept the reaver nice and far away from the cubby where the balls and walls were. It was a little bit of an issue after anti-gravity, but the tank was able to get it back. The fire walls were the issue I think...the fog isnt so damaging it will pull aggro off a good tank. Don't extend the firewalls and it should be fine.

so basically for your cleric, all jacked up good, you really cannot destruct or banish them at all....wow
I do not see how any other spell like mind fog, dancing ball, etc...will get through their saves any easier.
But...you said you could curse them....that is odd their save failed that well..

it is true... curse and doom (low level will save spells) landed pretty easily (50%), but my bonus to necro spells help those 2 as well. I guess I should just be suprised that they did not make them immune to fire. Long live max empowered firewall. My point is not that that they are hard to destruct... but under the most favorable circumstances (curse, doom, prayer, spellsong, "jacked up and good" feats and eq) it makes no difference. They could have lowered the dc a touch to give this situation at least a success on a 2.

Enervation was the key for my wizard. He is an 11 wiz/2 rog right now, so I'd already been using enervate to help him with PK.
Now I just spam enervate until the other casters can land their spells.
