"Every few months, the folks at Turbine get ready to roll out another content update, or module, for Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO). When this happens they call upon a small group of people in the games media to take a tour of what they’ve been working on."

Take the tour with MMORPG here (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?feature=2385&game=163&from=%2Ffeatures.cfm%2Fview%2Flatest&bhcp=1)!

Players can now hire some help from a list of predefined hirelings at a local vendor. You simply purchase a one hour contract from the vendor and use the contract to summon your hireling when needed.

Ummm....they...umm...they actually played with MOD8 content?

A pretty positive review.

I think B is talking about the fact that there are no hirelings in mod8

A pretty positive review.

The reply on their forums is pretty positive as well.

Most are however concerned that it might be too late for Turbine to get a second chance for DDO..

No Doubt they sat on this for a few days at least.. Most likely played on Risia or a beta server where Hirelings were indeed active.....

It wasnt til late in the game that Hirelings were pushed back to "Be introduced during live events"

Thats how I feel.

Which is a shame, because they've really, seriously turned the NPE on its head. They've absolutely done an amazing job of the tutorial and the island.

If they can get the word out and get people to try it I believe we'd get some more subscribers, but it would take a huge, huge push.

It would be nice if the reviewer got his facts straight. I mean how can you confuse Storm Giants with Frost Giants?

I hope you guys are wrong, and that it's not too late for DDO. I have to agree that if the game had been released originaly like it is now, there would be a lot more people playing.

A big push is exactly what is needed.

So, in the article they mention that this is the SECOND time they've revamped the tutorial quest. Really? Euphonia's Challenge wasn't the first one? What was the first one then?

I started about four months after launch, had they already changed the intro by then?

He is talking baout the changes to the lower harbor where they added the solo quests and opened up the gates so that you didn't have to finish the goodblades to get up to the other quests.

Wasn't this when they stopped making you do the low road to leave the newbie area.. and added the bribe to Kilmartin to get into the Market?

That was before I started (Jan '07), but not that long before.

I still remember having to do the Low Road before being able to get to the weapons vendor, potion vendor, and my mailbox. Which is why I still do it before I go to any of those locations 90% of the time.

The article mentions 4 high and 10 low level quest.
For the low level quests I am not seeing any new ones in the favor log. So when they say 10 did they mean 10 brand new ones or a mixture of brand new ones with some revamps ? Or is the article incorrect ?

Ah, yeah. I guess I didn't really count that as a revamp, just sort of a minor change. I was wondering about that.

There are some decent screen shots in there, too.

10 includes the revamps
