Would Like to See diferent Tactics People have thought up..

My Experience seems 50/50 depending on Party and Usually is as follows:

Evasion toon that can Heal self Heads in first and draws mephit and living spells agro brings them all back to the entrance, running them up and down the front corridor. The rest of the party Than heads in and charges past the mobs to the Kobald, fights him at the very Back of the Room While a cleric Quicken mass heals party if all goes well caster shoots up a dd peeps loot chest and dd out. (Leaving one person behind at Door is a good Idea if party wipes to get back to the shrine and regroup.)

any other techniques been proven out there?

We just charged in and beat the living #$&*$ out of the kobold, the party almost wiped at this point, as most of the non-evasion types were nearly out of hp (my ranger was only one with evasion). Everyone then ran away (a la sir robin) to the shrine where we had left one party member to let people back in. After dying once, my ranger went down and wittled away at everything, periodically getting heals from the cleric who was hiding above by the shrine. Total completion time was 59 minutes, but we were slow in the main part of the quest (1 member got stuck in a graphic glitch for awhile, and had to recall so most of party recalled to help)

My strat of choice:

Cleric(s) never cross lava, but don't stand far up the tunnel.

Evasion melee with Str damage weapon incaps the Living SPells on sight, but leaves them alive. Then, they try to get Fire Ele aggro and just beat on fire eles.

Others unload all manner of hell on the Kobold then the Efreet.

Symbol of Persuasion the Mephits, ooze puppet the spells.

Lots of mobs on your side with fire immunity to take fireballs.

Ooze puppet the living spells.

Does that work? It didn't in the Subterrain when I tried it a while back.

My group tried a bunch of tactics, while leaving one guy (me) to man the wheel.

Finally, I got the idea that everything was agroed on someone other than me, so I told them to wait and I rushed in after the Kobold.

I ranged him and did great damage, and none of his friends came after me.
He just kept throwing spells at me. Which I could either save against or self heal/cure.

Seeing my success, the others got impatient and came to help.
They still had to deal with his minions, but that fight took place in the passageway, away from me. A couple others came and helped finish the Kobold off.

But honestly, he's not that tough by himself, and ranging him works well.

Seems having some one get all the agro and go back to the Shrine and stay there would be good.
With luck, everyone else could just run by his minions and go after him. Then finish his buddies off later, one by one if they were careful.

Living Spells respawn even after he is dead, but far enough from the chest that they did not agro on us.

<Mephits>
mind fog + banishment (quick kill)
solid fog + cloudkill (on elite)
or just nuke them (WF)

<living spells>
summoned by kobold, so watch him carefully
Ray of enfeeblemet + wave of exhustion + w/e weapon

<fire elementals>
no need to kill. evasion toon can pull agro to the enterance(you may die there, its ok :D). and just kite around. just get the chest when others finish quest and use ddoor :)

<kobold>
melee on the top. Efreet cannot see people on the top.

<efreet>
leave him alone until you kill the kobold. he will wait you for death :D

100% completion of late. It is pretty straightforward the healers and melee on top fight the kobold and one 1 evasion characters get aggro on living spells and mephits and wound/p them to death at the bottom of the rock formation. They are far enough from the melee and clerics on top that they take no damage. Then melee rush down and kill efreet after the kobold is dead then at that point all that is left is fire elementals. Just kill one fire elemental at a time and loot chest. I have often done this with an arcane or without doesn't really matter. Although arcane will kill mephits faster but helps less on kobold.

Ooze puppet the living spells.

Ooze puppet is lame, just weaken the spells til they can't cast. A high dex ranger could easily solo this fight on any difficulty.

The spells respawn until the kobold's dead so I prefer to make them helpless by weaken/enfeeble.

i like to go in first on my cleric/monk throw a BB at the bottom of the rock platform, and let the rest of the party drag the kobold up top. Plenty of distance from the top to the bottom for the party to avoid the fire damage, my cleric gets to /dance with the elementals, while easily healing the parties kobold damage ^^

Only if the caster using it can't make it stick. Otherwise, it worked fairly nicely to tie them up and draw aggro away from the party. First run in there, I charmed everything that could be charmed. We only had myself and Oddlived for evasion types though, so he killed the Kobold while myself and others distracted the rest of the mobs and I applied debuffs on the Kobold and Hastes on Odd. He killed the Kobold really fast too. ( Then I got stuck in "stuck spot" near opening and died LOL what a bummer....)

We generally just W/E the living spells first, takes them out of the picture (while incapped they do not respawn) and then trim away the mephits until it is time to take down da kobold.

Interesting. Is that based on ranged or melee combat? My 16 monk can do the quest easily on normal, but hard was fairly difficult already due to the paragon kobolds and although the kobold boss was cake the efreet boss was hitting thru my ac and easily outpacing my curse of healing. I had to engage him in intervals while I had shield/haste up, then retreat and reset those. Also, the original mephit killing and living spell disabling was difficult since it was a race for me to get their numbers down fast enough before I took a lot of damage. I don't think that exact strategy would get me through elite. I actually duo'd elite to end fight with a ranger/paladin hybrid friend who was mostly dual-wielding weakening/enfeebling. We barely survived the first elemental and the paragon kobolds were huge trouble. All told, I had to raise him about a half dozen times, and I'd have to say my chances of soloing are better than his. Of course, he's strictly melee, so I'm thinking you must be relying heavily on ranged fighting....maybe I should give elite a go on my fighter/rogue repeater specialized guy. Or maybe I should wait till after XMas when I've built up a bunch of fire shield clickies.

Second the above.... of course some tiems we are even in the same group ;)

depends on the gorup really, we just take when ever we get and make do .....

Normaly We either Ozzepuppit the LS or W/E then, if a caster is there they will instakill the mephits...
Melles Kill the red nameds, kolbold then effitie then ellementals.
casters once every thign is puppeted or FoD/PKed, busts out polar ray and goes to town on rednameds.
Celric or Bard or both if we have both Heal people :)
IF we ahve no W/E and no Ooze puppet, an evation aggroos the LS/Mephits/fire elese and distracts them apart form the group.
