Heya gang,

Seeing how the folks at DDO are a bit busy atm, i figured i would pick your brains and see if anyone out there is having the same issues as me.

I'm running a Dual Core Vista PC 2gig ram, liquid cooled with a radeon 8800 card. After the updates yesterday i enabled the DirX to check it out.. and instantly crashed in a fatal error. Now i can't even get ddo to open so i can turn it back to default. Every time i get to the character loading screen... crash.

Anyone have any thoughts? I'm going to try deleteing DDO and do a full reinstall when i get home from work. I might have to patch for hours, but its better then total PC crash. Thanks in Advance.

See if your Graphics card is listed in the Known Issues (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=150534) post.

Nope, my cards not on that list, but i guess its possible that list isnt so complete. Everything was fine till the upgrade. *sigh*

You should be able to disable it in the preferences file under your Documents folder(Or whatever the Vista version is called). There's some info on the exact line, but I don't remember where it is.(Maybe Tech forum?)

If you have this problem you can manually disable DX10 by editing your 'userpreferences.ini' file. The file should be located in 'Documents/Dungeons and Dragons Online'.

Make a backup of the file before editing the userpreferences.ini file.

Look for the entry:
GraphicsCore=D3D10

and change it to:
GraphicsCore=D3D9

Save the file, restart your live client, and you should be good to go.

Did you play on Risia at all?

Are you sure its a Radeon 8800 and not an Nvidia 8800? Huge difference in that, a Radeon is an old card that is not DX10 compatible.

Have you gone through and made sure that absolutely every single app that is attached to DDO is not set to "Run in Compatibility with Windows XP SP2?" (check setting for global users as well, not just admin)
